Summary: Some Video Games Can Be Beaten *****
Review: "Winning Strategies for Video Poker" by Lenny Frome is the best of several compilations by Frome who almost single handedly popularized the notion that some video poker games can be beaten. This book contains a few glitches and the notation is somewhat difficult to follow, but the information is basically solid.

Other standard video poker books include "Professional Video Poker" by Stanford Wong and "Video Poker-Optimum Play" by Dan Paymar. These are perhaps a bit more readable in terms of their notation and explanations If you can, you should buy and read all three of them.

If you can only afford the time and money for one book, you might want consider "How to Gamble at The Casinos Without Getting Plucked Like a Chicken" by James Harrison Ford. In addition to telling you which video poker games to play and how to play them, it covers a variety of other casino games.

The interesting thing about video poker games is that you really can make money playing them... IF you know what you are doing and have a big enough bankroll to do it. Any of these standard video poker books can show you how.

Video poker has been called the crack cocaine of gambling simply because it is almost mesmerizing - fortune seems to be just one click away. The combination of frequent small payoffs, occasional medium size payoffs and the possibility of a big win - a Royal Flush - keeps most players riveted to the machines, feeding them more and more money in the hope of hitting that big one.

Just make sure that you do your homework before you start stuffing money into the video poker machines. It will save you money in the long run and make playing a lot more fun.

Summary: A Must Read for Any Video Poker Fan
Review: A wonderful, comprehensive, easy to read book on video poker. It makes it easy and fun to play the game and to know you are making the right play. Lenny Frome deserves his title as master of video poker. I started out not really knowing how to play the game but now I love playing and feel confident that I am using the winning strategy! The EV tables make are easy to use. I also suggest reading VP Americas National Game of Chance by the same author.

Summary: ALMOST AS MUCH FUN TO READ AS IT IS TO PLAY
Review: I am a regular video poker player. I had heard many positive things about Mr. Frome's book, though I do not generally anjoy reading. The book was very enjoyable to read and immediately improved my play and that was very rewarding, if you know what I mean. I highly recomend the book for players at any level.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Not for Beginners
Review: The author is a former rocket scientist and the book contains many charts that the "average" person may find difficult to fathom. There are very few explanations for the terms used in the charts and minimal examples. The beginning player wants to know why video poker is so popular; the difference between normal slots and video poker; what are full-pay machines. If you are just starting out - don't start with this book.
