Rating: Summary: Wonderful book Review: "Don't Look Back, We're Not Going That Way" is charming, sad and funny--often simultaneously--and Marcia Wallace tells her life stories with wonderful ease and insight. An inspiring book from an inspiring person.
Rating: Summary: It's like she wrote it just for me to read! Review: At two o'clock in the morning, five hours after starting the book, I still couldn't put it down. I felt like a dear friend was talking right to me. She says things no one else seems to be able to say, and you love her for it. I laughed out loud again and again! And sometimes I had to put the book down when I was suddenly moved to tears. Her story is remarkable, but it's impossible not to identify with her. I think it's because Marcia Wallace's honesty is breathtaking, and her words ring true. This is what it's like to be a spiritual being having a very human experience. This is how we REALLY feel when we experience loss and everything else that comes in life. She's the funniest writer around, and the best part it that it's all from the heart so you have to recognize yourself in her words. It will inspire you and change your perspective on your life and your loved ones. I think everyone would feel like she wrote this book just for them. I've found myself telling everybody I see that THIS is the book they need to read RIGHT NOW!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: Better than reality television! I couldn't put this book down! What an incredible story of Marcia's life journey. It truly will make you laugh out loud, and cry, all at the same time. I couldn't believe the honesty that went into telling her story. No fluff here... it's the real deal. Her story touched my heart, as I'm sure it will yours, too.
Rating: Summary: What a long, strange, fantastic trip Review: I finished reading this book in two brief evenings, and simply adored it. Marcia Wallace's willingness to share such poignant, raw, truthful moments of both sadness and joy is sure to touch many people as it did me. Any book that can jump from stories of loss and tragedy and still make you laugh at the description of a subway ride that leaves the author with a soiled skirt, sprayed with unspeakable grime is a rare treat indeed. Marcia Wallace is one remarkable dame, and if I closed that book left with one thing it is the reminder that we all need to shake off the small stuff and be grateful everyday for the gifts and people in our lives.
Rating: Summary: It's honest, hysterical, touching and delightful! Review: I thought that I knew Marcia - from college, her work on the Newhart show and with the Simpsons. But this book clearly shows us a side of Marcia that has endured some of the greatest tragedies in life. But in her quest for life, she once again comes out on top. Her honest approach to life, fantastic sense of humor and her ability to embrace life, no matter what obstacles stand in her way, show us a woman that is to be admired and respected for her upbeat lease on life. Thanks for writing it, Marcia! This book is definitely a must read!
Rating: Summary: Witty, Touching and Hysterically Funny Book Review: I was thoroughly entertained reading every page of this book from beginning to end. Marcia has led an enviable life filled with all the comedy and tragedy that make a person interesting. Her style of writing is so real and natural it's as if Marcia herself jumps off the page into your room with her witty, zany and irrestible personality. Her brutally honest account of her personal tragedies is evidence of her great inner strength and ability to overcome adversity. The story of her life is truly inspiring in so many ways. I would recommend this book to anyone!

Rating: Summary: A Complete Treat Review: It's truly an amazing feat to be able to tell stories that inspire and are funny at the same time, and Marcia Wallace does just that incredibly well in this book. I loved the tone throughout -- homey, witty, optimistic and refreshingly honest -- and stayed up until 2:30 one morning, hooked and determined to finish it (also partly because my boyfriend, a "Match Game" fanatic, was nagging me that he wanted to read it next.) I would recommend the book heartily to fans of her work on "The Bob Newhart Show" or "The Simpsons," to survivors of abuse or breast cancer, to those who have lost loved ones to cancer, to adopted parents, to aspiring performers -- in other words, to just about anyone.
Rating: Summary: Funny and Beautiful Review: Marcia is so funny, and strong, and just wonderful, and her book is like spending an evening listening to her tell stories of her life. I sent it to my mom, and she called the next day nearly in tears, saying that she loved it and she loved Marcia, which seems to me to be the only possible reaction.
Rating: Summary: Funnier than "Moby Dick", shorter than "War and Peace" Review: Marcia Wallace is a legend in television comedy, hilarious in a variety of roles from Carole Bondurant to Edna Krabappel... but this great book shows a previously untapped talent for storytelling. Anyone who's seen or heard her perform is familiar with the perfect timing and wry delivery which she here translates deftly to the page. Marcia Wallace manages to combine wide-eyed earnestness and sardonic wit. This book will inspire you, touch you and make you laugh. Once you pick it up, you'll find it impossible to put down... so don't start reading it at a red light.
