Rating: Summary: INDISPENSABLE READ! Review: Arguably the most important book of its kind. Rodney Saulsberry dispenses so much pertinent information regarding the world of professional voice-overs--How to develop the skill, then how to get into the business, be competitive in it, how to truly excel, and even a bit on how to manage all that dough you make--that you could very well jump right into this profession right after you put down the book.
Unlike other HOW-TO books, usually antiseptic reads, Saulsberry's writing is warm, to the point, even witty. And because the author is a star in this unique genre who actively makes his living in the voice-over field, you know he's informing you on the business not as it was, but as it is RIGHT NOW.
Not only is this book an absolute must-read for both the aspiring and established voice-over artist, I'd also recommend it to actors, singers, public speakers and anyone who has a question about what they'd like to do professionally in life.
Rating: Summary: Mr. Saulsberry Delivers the Secret Details Review: As a creative director and copywriter of advertising & promo spots --the very ones that voice over artists read in the studio -- I know that Mr. Saulsberry has deliverd the secret details. Often times in guide publications on "how to" start in a business --essential secrets are left out. Perhaps this allows the writer of the publication to "retain an edge" even after he's written what is supposed to be the definitive book. Mr. Saulsberry, on the other hand, has given his weatlh of knowledge openly. The end result is a book that's part business plan - part motivational tool, opening doors, not leaving out important elements --so that an individual who actually has the passion to do this absolutely, unequivicolly CAN. A great read or listen (CD) for anyone in ANY business. The marketing elements are razor sharp and can burst a myriad of different kinds of business to the next level.

Rating: Summary: Voice Talent Review Review: This book gives a solid overview of the voice over field and provides some specific next steps for new talent. The stories he shares are memorable and you can almost picture yourself in his shoes as the events are unfolding. It is clear that each new experience and opportunity has helped to shape his successful career and given him wisdom along the way. The emphasis on keeping a positive attitude through the success and disappointment along with the encouraging words of persistence and follow-up are critical for any voice talent who plans to succeed. I have read a number of other books on the market about the voice over business. Each book has it own point of view to offer voice talent. This one should be in your library. I think that it will re-energize you to do what it takes to promote your skills, to network, to train, and to really create your own future in this field. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Rodney Saulsberry is awesome! Review: This book is definitely what I consider to be the bible of the voiceover industry. I am a radio announcer as well as a voiceover talent. This book has inspired me to take my voiceover career to the next level. I now have my own setup at home, I'm with three agencies and I've been contacting a lot of the resources given in the back of this book. I have followed Rodney's career for a long time through magazine articles and he is definitely my mentor. This book is filled with knowledge, wisdom and a whole lot of inspiration. At first I thought he had to be crazy to give away so much information. Trust me, it is valuable! But I realized that when you are blessed and at the top of your game, giving back as well as helping others is definitely pleasing to GOD. This book answers everything you ever wanted to know about the voiceover business and a whole lot more! Even his personal lessons are witty and inspirational. This book is in no way boring. When I first got the book, I read it all in one sitting. Then I went back and took notes and highlighted just about the entire book. I have told everyone I know about the book. It's hard to keep a good thing to yourself. I hope to one day meet Rodney as well as work with him. In the meantime, I will keep on studying as well as enjoying his work. This book is a must have!!!!!!!!

Rating: Summary: A great teaching tool Review: What I love about the both the book and the author is that he is willing to share the "tricks of the trade" as it relates to his craft. When it comes to voice-overs, it is such a tight, competitive, "who you know" market, and the fact that he is willing to share his wealth of information is beyond priceless for anyone looking to break into the industry. A must read for up-and-comers.

Rating: Summary: A Million Dollar Voice Review: YOU CAN BANK ON YOUR VOICE is a helpful how-to guide that explores the exciting career field of voice-over. If, like me, you have never considered a career in voice-over, this book may just have you re-considering your career choices. Saulsberry provides all the information you need to launch a successful career. The book covers such things as training, finding an agent, promoting yourself, and auditioning in addition to information regarding the various types of voice-over work that are available. While the information in the book is not particularly in-depth it does provide a comprehensive overview of the career field and additional resources such as books, websites and even training exercises are included in the appendices.
While you may not recognize the name Rodney Saulsberry, I am sure you have heard his widely recognized voice which is featured in countless commercials, movie trailers, animation pieces and television programs to name a few. He includes several of his personal experiences and antidotal stories in the book, they serve as real life examples of some of the lessons he presents. If you have ever placed a call and been directed through a series of prompts by a mysterious voice, watched a cartoon or listened to an audio book, then you have been exposed to the art of voice-over. Through this book, Rodney Saulsberry provides the initial tools needed to a launch your own career in this field and truly bank on your voice.
