Rating: Summary: Excellent book Review: This slender book is packed with a wealth of valuable information, if you take the time to study it. It's definitely not the type you read while falling asleep in an airplane. The main piece of advice is "up and back" and it's really all you need to know. The rest of the chapters flesh out the idea quite beautifully. Invest in this book and you'll soon have a voice that can light up stars.
Rating: Summary: The Voice Its a Beautiful Thing Review: When I first began writing this book, I wanted to turn back many times...I knew, that what I would be putting forth, would most likely stir up a great deal of discussion in the establishments of vocal pedagogy....yet, I also was certain, that what I had to say was so important, that this book absolutely had to be written. I have been involved in the study of voice for many years....have taught many hundreds of students in many parts of the world. The comments my teaching in Masterclasses, Seminars evoked, no matter where I went, were always the same: "Why has no one ever explained this tome me? " "I always knew there had to be a way I could produce my voice without straining and forcing, but no one ever gave me the answers I was looking for...Why?" "If YOU know this, and if YOU can explain it, how come no one has ever written about this before?" I have no answers to these questions, but I do have the answers on how to produce the voice without constantly being uncomfortable, without straining and pushing....I know how to get you to understand the "Giro " and how to build the size of the voice without ever using the throat or the larynx...I can reposition voices, that others have given up for lost, and by putting them in the place where they belong, give them new life and brilliance...I know how to take a laryngeal "ballo" out of the voice and substitute it for even, beautiful, perfectly positioned vibrations and I can teach you how to sing for hours and never feel the voice at all..I can give you height you never experienced before...and after you finish performing, you can start all over again and never fatigue the instrument. I offer you the opportunity to follow me on this journey and explore true Bel Canto in its purest form. For all these reasons and so many more I have written this book... I envision voices returning to the brilliance of the 'Golden Era'...I want careers to be lasting, not disintegrate after a few short years... I wish for everyone to have the opportunity to partake of what I know and with that knowledge, create their destiny. I am always asked why I bring spirituality into the conversation. Well, to me Music in itself is a spiritual experience. Without being able to tap into the spirituality of the voice, the instrument remains empty, never reaching its fullest potential. If however, you, the singer accept the power of the universe and tap into that, you will see, how much greater your ability to share and give of yourself and of your instrument will be. If you care to follow me technically, spirituality is part and parcel of the Whole. I offer my ideas, my experience and my knowledge...I offer it without hesitation and hold back nothing...it is up to you to choose the way..
Rating: Summary: Very Pleased by this book so far... Review: When I first purchased this book I wasn't expecting that much out of it. Maybe a few hints as towards singing correctly and the rest word salad. But it has actually surprised me... I've done the first few exercises [proper breathing, tea tree oil, etc.] and taken her hints into mind and they actually work. I still feel very tingly and practically ecstatic after attempting these techniques. I have had a bit of technical training in singing prior to this, but these methods have so far delivered results that are unlike those taught by other instructors. It reminds you why are you singing in the first place, and for who: yourself. This book gives a primal reason for the voice, to sing in the first place...and reminds you that all the other techniques aren't as necessary as they appear...
