Summary: The Technique that frees your voice
Review: Quite frankly, from where I come from, reasonably good teachers are really rare. I have gone through the rigours of so called "Classical voice training" for many years and to cut a long story short, those years of learning really caused me immesurable distress because so many teachers claimed to teach the Bel Canto way of singing; but each teacher taught me entirely different things. When I tried to apply their techniques, they often failed. However, the teachers blamed me for not mastering their respective techniques.
Being quite sickened by the entire business, I just was about to give up singing entirely when I chanced upon the book which Ms Miriam wrote. I read through the reviews excitedly, and then proceeded to call her up. To my great joy,she responded to my desperate cry for help and since then, we have struck a strong student-teacher relationship.
I have read through her book repeatedly and have tried my best to apply the things that she has taught.Her technique is a careful and well researched method that brings out the best in the voice. Her technique does many things, but I would like to highlight two major areas:
1)The voice is freed because the throat and the extrinsic muscles do not get in the way. Hence, one can use her technique to sing safely for hours without fear of excessive tension or strain in the voice. This is invaluable for performers who have to face the onslaught of high stress performance conditions.
2) The tone is greatly beautified, enriched and gains much more depth and intensity. One can attain higher and lower notes with greater ease.
In all, her technique is simple, to the point and very effective.This principle applies to ALL genres of music, not just classical music.
So then, I like to thank Ms Miriam for helping disillusioned singers like me. Above all, I would like to express my gratefulness to her for being a guide, mentor and very wonderful vocal teacher. For those who are fed up with all the bad vocal teaching around and have suffered from vocal confusion as I have, please do read Ms Miriam's book. You will notice the very positive effects soon enough!
Also, I used to have a great fear of performing in public because I was afraid that I would crack or that my voice would just give way. Ms Miriam's solid and totally dependable technique has seen me through many trying situations. Moreover, the meaning and the spirit behind the song can be better transmitted because the technique is founded on firm and workable principles.
I also have summoned the courage to record two albums because of Ms Miriam's encouragement. Being a singer who wishes to be flexible in various styles of music, I have found her guidelines very useful indeed. Previously,I have been typecast as a classical singer but now, because of her invaluable teaching, I have been branching out into musicals, and even pop music.
So do yourself and and your voice a big favour! Miriam is right! There are so many seemingly "short- cut, have-it-all" techniques out there that actually ruin your voice and your vocal cords. Why settle for anything less? Miriam's authentic 'bel canto' technique keeps your voice in tip-top condition.

Summary: The very best book and method on singing.
Review: Thank you Miriam Jaskierowicz Arman, for your wonderful book about singing. It has changed my life, and my voice for the better, in many ways. After three years of opera lessons,(with the bel canto method), my teacher had me working on vocal exercises, no singing, because of being in my throat. After 3 days of working with your methods, my voice sounded like hers did, when she showed me how it was done. Now songs with high notes, are a joy to sing, knowing I will sing every note well...too many good things to say, just so thankful to be able to study with your book every day. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to sing at their best. It gives a freedom and joy to the voice I've not found anywhere else.

Summary: When experience meets dedication, passion and excellence....
Review: The book, "THE VOICE: A SPIRITUAL APPROACH TO SINGING, SPEAKING AND COMMUNICATING" by MIRIAM JASKIEROWICZ ARMAN, is a coupling of the authors experiences as an outstanding vocal pedagogue and technician, and her incredible dedication and passion to the teaching of voice and her students. Besides being factual, intelligent, and totally precise in her explanations of the technical aspects of the true Bel Canto Technique, she exhibits humanity and deep psychological understanding of the singers personality and mentality. She knows what makes the voice 'tick'. Her discussion of the "Giro", the endless loop of the voice, the 'Portal Bones',...the 'Breath' and its placement, 'Spinging, The Primal Scream of the Voice', the 'Spoon and the Egg', the 'Movement of the Voice', perfect non-laryngeal Vibrations, etc.....make her conversation totally unique from anything else which has been presented in the last fifty years. Her style of writing is most engaging...it almost seems as though you are having a private lesson in her studio...she speaks directly to you.... It is obvious, from her technical knowledge of the voice , that she is a Master and in complete command of the subject. She has a superior way of communicating information to the most advanced and experienced student, but makes it easy enough for the beginner to clearly comprehend her as well. Understanding the voice in all its nuances, becomes an easy and pleasurable task, when reading her book. I was particularily impressed with the building of one chapter upon the other, yet surprised, how each stands on its own and still makes complete sense. She always returns to the basics and her drawings, which are spectacular (nothing you have ever seen before), explain artistically what she puts forth in words....again total ease and clarity. If you would never read a word in the book and only look at the drawings, you would still "get the picture". The book is a cross over...For singers at any stage, be it beginning, advanced or professional, a MUST read.... for Speech Pathologists and Doctors an eye- opener, for Public Speakers, a tool for improving their craft.... and for the lay person, who just wishes to speak better, a way to use the voice correctly in every day circumstances. It is our great pleasure to present this book to the various markets, because we feel, that much good will come of it and that a service is being rendered to the community at large.

Review: The truth about singing....(as in living). Undo. Let it happen. A blessing. Be a vehicle of the voice... All those words made connect myself to my voice in a totally different way. I think this is the only way to sing. I do really invite not only singers to read it but all the people who ever wanted to experience with their voices. Enjoy it!

Review: This book is a revolutionary ground breaking work for the singing art form. Ms. Arman teaches the reader how the voice is produced the way the Great Maestri taught the voices of the Golden Age. She understands, explains clearly, and shares her knowledge in an intimate and gracious way with the reader. After studying classical voice at a famous conservatory and with famous teachers, I still was not able to produce effortless, beautiful sound. After reading her book, most serious students can't help but get on a plane and go meet her which is what I did. In one lesson, 13 years after serious vocal studying in 3 major US cities, I found my voice. My experience is a testament to the truth and integrity of the technique outlined in this book. Because of the existence of the information in this book, a whole generation of new singers has the opportunity to bring back the great age of singing. I am absolutely positive that Miriam Jaskierowicz Arman will go down in history as a legend. The work of her students who use the wisdom of this material and who sing on the major stages of the world, are a testament to the fact that she is a brilliant teacher, a great mind, a remarkable woman, and an international treasure to the Art.

Summary: The Missing Link...
Review: This book is the mirror image of the woman who wrote it, and both are nothing short of remarkable. When this approach to singing was revealed to me, I felt as if I had found the missing link between average singing and what I think is perfection of the instrument. Now, we all know perfection is a goal that is seldom reached, if ever, but you come deliciously close! The book is beautiful in its simplicity and step by step guidance. You can't go wrong if you truly dedicate yourself to what you're reading. I strongly recommend Ms. Arman's book to anyone and everyone with a wish to sing. With patience and perseverance, your wish may come true!

Review: This is the best book about singing I have ever read in my entire life! The truth about the voice is revealed in a way that is easy to understand. Whoever you are, a professional singer or just a beginner, if you really read this book over and over, your life will be transformed. Miriam J. Arman is truly inspiring. I truly believe that this is the ONE book that you need to have and read over and over again to understand how to sing and speak correctly and effortlessly. You will never see THE VOICE the same way again. Truly Brilliant! I am really blessed to get to read this book!
