Summary: Whoopi keeps you laughing in this straightforward funny book
Review: Whoopi Goldberg is one of the best commediennes of our time, and "Book" reflects her "tells it like it is" humor with wit and style. Whoopi talks to you about various topics such as marriage, childhood, relationships, eggs, religion and many others. Yes, there is some profanity, but that's Whoopi. If you love Whoopi, you'll love this book. Buy it today!

Summary: Goldberg is hilarious, but lacks substance
Review: Whoopi Goldberg, an exceptionally talented actor and comedian, should be commended for putting her humor in words for her debut book, cleverly titled "Book." Goldberg tackles issues as seemingly mundane as using the bathroom to more serious issues as the love of a family member, while conveying a sense of personality and humor quite effectively.

Although each chapter is hilarious in its own right, the excessively large print and skipping of pages between chapters, while seemingly unimportant, makes it seem as though "Book" is trying to be more substantial than it really is.

Summary: Just not funny
Review: Whoopi Goldberg, like so many comedians, apparently thinks that the so-called dirty words are funny, per se, in whatever context. In this case, they simply aren't amusing, except to the snickering adolescent. She is a fine actress, and I have laughed at some of her wit in stand-up routines. Perhaps something goes out of them when reduced to paper and read by someone who is cold sober. Ultimately humor has to have something to say about the human condition, and she doesn't have much to say that is beyond a perfect grasp of the obvious. That is sad.

Summary: This was written by an imposter.
Review: Whoopi is such an inteligant woman that it is hard to believe that this crap was written by her. I understand many celebrities hire ghost-writers to do their books but I didn't know third graders were so employed.

Summary: Goldberg strikes gold with a thought provoking book.
Review: Whoopi's book is outstanding. It made me think about things that were always in the back of my mind. God bless her. I plan to buy a copy for my Father. JOHN FAIR, SWITZERLAND

Summary: getting inside the head of a great actress/comedienne
Review: whoopie is one of my favourite actresses and comedienne's. she's got a very blunt attitude about life, and doesn't have any problem telling you how it is. this book covers all kinds of topics from farts, to sex. you'll even find out why her nickname/name is whoopie :) again, another book written as if she is standing there talking to you, so don't expect perfect grammar, or sometimes even for it to flow like a novel, because that's not what it's about. it's about her telling stories, and telling you her opinions and thoughts on things about our lives.....that's what makes it so much fun, to see what she's thinking, and what makes her such a funny person....

Summary: Drivel from an angry person
Review: Whoopie's comment against Pope John Paul II is so hateful and obscene that it defies all decency and shows what really motivates her.

Summary: Guess you gotta love it or hate it
Review: Wow. After reading all the previous reviews, I guess you either love or hate this book. I thought it was one of the better books in the comedian-as-author genre. I could have done without quite so much toilet humor, but hey, she's a comedian, that's what they do. She wasn't trying to write the Great American Novel here. The fact that she used a ghost writer didn't bother me at all. I didn't know she had until she said so at the end of the book. The book sounded like Whoopi to me. If she needed someone's help in organizing it into a viable manuscript, so what? And as much as it pains me to say it, I have to agree with Entertainment Weekly. Whoopi, please consider writing your autobiography.
