Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Required reading
Review: This is one of the better endgame books Ive seen in the past few years. Most players ignore the study of this phase of the chess game and instead concentrate on openings, which is ridiculus. Im rated 1900 ELO, and on the internet Im rated nearly 2200 because I play speed chess and I face players who play unorthodox openings, strong middlegames, and then fail to impress me in the endings. I dont know everything thats in Flear's book, but just knowing some of it could bring you up to the level of a candidate master!

Summary: Good intermediate level endgame book
Review: This title makes a great second book to round out a chess endgame book collection. It is certainly the best of the three "Improve Your" chess series by Everyman Publishers. Its a large sized book with examples from modern practice and is an excellent alternative to the usual overly analytical (and boring) chess ending books. Even if you already own a chess ending book you will derive benefit from Glenn Flear's new book. At this list price you will certainly learn something for your money. Chapters are divided by material balance. Another great ending book is Howell's Essential Chess Endings which is also one of the most readable ending books available.
