Summary: I can't believe this is still for sale!
Review: Go Phish has been ridiculed, to the point of absurdity, by scores of fans everywhere, including half a dozen on this page alone. For more accurate information, just make it up yourself -- since that's what Dave Thompson did here. It is more than inaccurate -- it is misguided and even delerious. There are other books about Phish - skip this one.

Summary: This book is supposed to be about Phish? The band Phish?
Review: I'm sorry, but this book is terrible. Only a very small amount of the information in this book is true. Please, if you are just starting to like the band Phish, don't read this book, it will only provide you with false information.

Summary: This book is a joke.
Review: It is a crying shame that people are able to publish things they know absolutely nothing about. This book is not only a farce but poorly written as well. Not even worthy of bathroom reading.

Summary: 4/10/99 review is right... why is this still offered?
Review: It's already a waste of trees. Don't let it be a waste of your time and money.

Review: On the back cover of "Go Phish", it says Dave Thompson is a "veteran rock journalist." It should have said he's a sensationalistic rock novelist. The book is full of unsupported claims asserted as truth by Mr. Thompson and presented to unsuspecting "phans". As most fans will tell you, the Phish phenomenon cannot be easily understood by outsiders who don't listen to the music or go to the shows. Mr. Thompson makes it very clear that he does neither. He mixes fact with fiction. This can be overlooked when it involves imaginary on stage antics or the number of times they play a song. This just proves that he didn't do his homework. But when he deliberately disparages a band member by presenting an undocumented story where he flicks a cigarette in someone's face, he goes to far. In fact, this band member doesn't even smoke cigarettes. It's clear that Dave Thompson is not interested in the band, their music, or their fans but the money that can be made off of them by writing a substandard book.

Summary: This book is terrible.
Review: Thanks to Dave Thompson for being another mediocre writer who was counting on the loyalty of phans to make a few bucks. SELL OUT. Do not buy this book. If you truly love the music and the history of this band, by The Phish Book which is co-authored with the band. If you are a fan from way back, or just getting into the band, open your eyes.

Summary: 192 pp of fabricated nonsense best suited for wrapping fish
Review: There are other books on Phish -- skip this one. Amazon's doing you a HUGE favor including a review that slight's somethign they're trying to sell, but they're right to do so - this book in nonsense. The author clearly doesn't know much about Phish, and many are under the impression that he just made up most of it. Check on the Usenet newsgroup rec.music.phish for daily ridiculing of this 192-page piece of nonsense. Save your nickels. Phish will attract the writing of many books, and this ain't the one you want.

Summary: Farce
Review: This book is a farce. It is full of factual errors, from the careless to the utterly ridiculous. Mr. Thompson clearly does not know Phish. It seems that he was either hired by someone to write this piece of trash, or at least someone convinced him he could capitalize on the Phish phenomenon. Whatever you do, don't buy this book. Buy the Phishing Manual (Budnick), or wait for the Mockingbird Project!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Finally, a book about Phish for the rest of us
Review: This book took a huge hit in the newsgroup, but the people who hang out there tend to focus on the specifics. This book covers the context Phish emerged out of better than the other books on the market. Plus, it's good Rock N Roll journalism, which means it most likely written on a tight deadline by a non-expert.

Also, this is the first explanation I've heard of what "David Bowie" is really about. Recommended for anyone who doesn't have 200 hours, and wonders why anyone else would.
