Summary: Excellent information on pool and billiards.
Review: Outstanding information on basic and advanced technique. It tells you about draw and follow shots, and also english. It also gives you information on straight pool, eight-ball, and many other pool games. This is in my opinion, the only book on pool and billiards you will ever need. Robert Byrne has really outdone himself by creating this masterpiece. This book should be on the shelves of every pool and billiards player. This is by far the best book on pool and billiards ever written.

Summary: The definitive introductory guide for pool and billiards
Review: This book is the most complete and well written introduction to the game of pocket billiards (pool) available. Starting with the basics of stance and grip and moving into intermediate level tips for the games of 8-ball, 9-ball, straight pool and one pocket, the book comprises the essentials for players of any level. Byrne's treatment of such deceptively simple shots as balls frozen against the rail are straightfoward and easy to follow. Not "tech-heavy", yet at the same time covering the essentials of physics, a reader will find the principles behind many shots, or "Why things happen like that." I have read many instructional pool books, and I believe this book to be the first to standardize a precise and accurate representation of table and ball layout. Even those not particulary interested in the sport of 3-cushion billiards will enjoy a "Byrne introduction" into this fascinating game. In fact, it was Byrne's book which sparked my interested into 3-cushion--a game I knew little about. Also included is excerpts from Byrne's book "McGoorty (also worth buying) and some of his best articles from his years of writing for Billiards Digest. Highly reccomended
