Summary: Behind the cameras !
Review: In the past, History used to be very boring: You had to study only the 'great facts' of the 'great kings or presidents' and besides that, to memorize a lot of dates, names and places. And the only valuable documents to study were the called 'official documents'. Fortunately, it changed. Today History and historians discovered another way to do that: We don't have to stay looking only for the 'official documents' anymore ! Today historians could research in different ways; They learned that not only those documents are the important ones but that other things or writings could be exellent objects of study and we won't be obligate to listen only the 'history of kings' anymore ! Among these new objects of study is the cinema with her movies and Marc Ferro is a pionner on studing the cinema as an object or 'document' for the historian's work. There in the book you will learn that the cinema is much more than the explicit things you see on the screen; it's politic, social and mental life and more important, it's History and it also made history ! As a History student (almost an historian), I truly recommend this book for the History or Cinema lovers. You won't see a movie the way you use to see it anymore !
