Rating: 2 stars
Summary: choppy
Review: When I read a biography I like it to read like a story. It needs to be coherent and flow nicley. This book is not a story. It is more of a collection of interviews. After each interview segment the author then states his opinion on the validity of the interviewed's comments. Wether or not it is chronologically possible. Wether or not the individual may have a biased opinion. I'm thinking.... Can't you sort all that stuff out on your own and spare me the details of how you arrived at your conclusion. 50% of the book deals with the author's opinions on the sources for his material. This is a boring and difficult read. Difficult beacuse sometimes the sources comments are interspersed within the author's commentary and you have to be careful not to confuse the two. I guess that dichotmoy really turned me off. I just got done spending 2 months of free time studying for an exam. I was looking forward to losing myself in a pleasant story about the life of Billie Holiday. This is not that book.
