Summary: ...rats, coulda shorted this book's list price!
Review: Andy Borowitz took some time from writing fake humorous news articles to write a fake humorous self-help book, and the result will be worth it for readers. Unless you actually take any of this book to heart.

It starts as a brilliant parody of self-help and obviously scammy Financial Success books, starting with a vision of what it's like to be a trillionaire--because hey, even billionaires have to answer to congress. The writer seems in command--until he inadvertently reveals details of his personal life through carefully chosen 'examples to the reader.' Useless diagrams and five-point strategies abound--quite impressive for such a thin book. Belly laughs are guaranteed--at the start.

But then the jokes about how the writer's just a loser living with his family pile up. It's a bit too obvious. The humor about why to buy a stock gets a bit too random or falls back on overused images. Then there are a few too many vacuous phrases without the hefty details to render their effect.

A book like this needs to be short to keep the humor breezy, but I was a bit TOO glad to get to the end of it. So perhaps Borowitz didn't really find his groove in this book. It sinks like the lousy stocks it trumpets near the end. Nevertheless it exposed the Internet stock bubble craze well, and this simple $5 investment made me feel much better about losing a good deal more money several years ago.

Summary: Hilarious but CLEVER...in a strange way!
Review: I guess you have to smarter than a stock broker to understand this highly edu-tational piece of writing. Thus, confirming Andy Borowitz's theory, that day traders are the highest ranked individuals in the business world's hierarchy. Takes the mystery out of day trading...in a mysterious way!? Becoming a trillionaire couldn't be faster, easier or funnier. Read it!

Summary: A MUST READ FOR DAY TRADERS AND COMEDY FANS
Review: I have been a successful day trader for three years now (annual return of 78% -- not bad!) and I found this book absolutely indispensible. It's a humor book, clearly, and it doesn't pretend to be anything else -- it touts "100% dubious advice" right on the cover -- but, in addition to being side-splittingly funny, it's full of insights, too. The author points out the common pitfalls and idiocies of day trading so precisely, you'll find yourself admitting, "I've done that" -- but I guarantee you'll never do it again! "Trillionaire" will keep you sharp and make you laugh -- no mean feat. (PS - I have a dozen friends, all of whom are day traders, and all of whom LOVED the book -- so take that as a very strong recomendation.) It's a quick, fun read, and is bound to put you in a good mood -- unlike this lousy market we've been having lately!!

Summary: Simply Awesome
Review: I just graduated from college and received this as a gift. It takes some guts to admit that you're a day trader these days, but I still am, and I thought this book was awesome! Very funny and scarily, scarily true. Read it for yourself and see, the writer here doesn't miss any targets.

Summary: This is why the stock market crashed q;o)
Review: I LOVE this book. The author's tongue-in-cheek humour is similar to that of Dilbert Creator Scott Adams in many of his early [non-comic] books. The book is a laugh-a-second and for the relatively cheap price, it's worth it.

Summary: Very, very funny.
Review: I read this while eating and TWICE I spat out salad from laughing with my mouth full. In the process, I made several million dollars on the stock market. So clearly the book does what it's supposed to do. In addition, it has the best dedication ever.

Summary: Dangerously Funny -- Read at Own Risk
Review: I'm laughing too hard to write more than a few lines... Borowitz is killing me... captures the spirit of this stock-market-obsessed age, then tortures it a bit... gotta go now -- my ribs are cracking...

Summary: HILARIOUS!
Review: I've always admired Andy Borowitz's writing in The New Yorker, but I wondered how funny could Andy be about the stock market? Trust me, it's hilarious. Timely, witty and very fresh -- it's the kind of book that makes you want to read parts of it aloud to your friends, even if they're really, really busy and beg you not to. This is the perfect summer read -- and it would make a great Father's Day gift.

Summary: This Book Made My Father's Day Complete
Review: I've been a stockbroker and an investor for over twenty-five years. My daughter says that I'm difficult to shop for, but this past Father's Day she hit the nail on the head with "The Trillionaire Next Door." A funny, FUNNY book! But it's more than that: it's a satiric catalogue of just about every stupid mistake investors (and, okay, stockbrokers, too) often make. Now I'm buying copies to give to all of my clients. It has a unique brand of humor that's really hard to describe in a review, but trust me -- if you're even a novice investor, you'll find plenty to laugh about (and learn from) in this book. Thank you, Nina (my lovely daughter)!
