Rating: Summary: I LOVE IT!!!! Review: I have just finished reading Imzadi for like the 6th or 7th time. Each time I read it, I find something that I missed the previous times, or something that I had forgotten about. It's such a wonderful book, and I don't understand how anyone could say it's not. I have always been intrested in Will and Deanna's relationship, and when I saw this book at the book store, I immediately bought it. It was the first Star Trek book that I bought. I loved every aspect of this story. It was funny, cute, sad, exciting, and just plain good. I learned things - or rather - Peter David gave us answers for some of the odd things in the show. Like in the pilot episode of TNG, Deanna mention's what she had taught Riker about reading her thoughts. Imzadi goes into that, and it's kind of nice having a little insider's scoop on the whole thing. Like other's have said in their review, I wish this would've carried into the TV show, but luckily, the most recent movie (Star Trek: Insurrection) shows them getting together by the end of the movie. YEAH!! I'm blabbing on here. Peter David has become my most favorite author and his book Imzadi is at the very top of my "Great Books" list. DON'T MISS OUT!! READ THIS BOOK!!!
Rating: Summary: Well written, very spritual. Review: This book is essentially a love story. A very good one, mainly because it is a Star Trek love story and has the time travel element. Peter David is as able to convey human emotion as much as he is good at writing exciting science fiction. Be warned: The book does get boring at times for those of you who are expecting a start to finish adventure but it is still very well worth reading and no TNG fan should miss it.
Rating: Summary: This is a GREAT book! Review: I couldn't put it down! If you're a star trek fan you will absoloutely love this book. Happy Reading.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: Peter David is an excellent writer... every book that I have read of his, I've enjoyed. Imzadi was a great book that explored and explained the relationship between Riker and Troi...
Rating: Summary: THIS IS THE BEST ST:TNG EVER WRITTEN!!!!!! Review: I have read this book 4 times so far. It is so descriptive! So imaginative! So graceful! So *sigh* made me fall in love with Riker!!!
Rating: Summary: THE BEST ST:TNG NOVEL WRITTEN YET! Review: I loved Imzadi! I am a great fan of the Troi/Riker relationship and this book tells all! I cried so hard when Deanna died. Before I bought this book I checked it out of the library every single week. The librarian there gave me the weirdest look because I'm only 11! This book includes passion, tragedy, humor, and action! I recommend this for any Star Trek fan or the average side-line viewer who is still wondering what the heck a tricorder is!
Rating: Summary: Best book ever Review: When I read this book a couple of years ago, I thought this was maybe the most well written book I'd ever read. Peter Davis is a wonderful author- this book is a great example of his best work. Imzadi has so much detail that you find yourself being drawn in to the story very quickly. I really can't say enough about how good it was. I couldn't stop crying in some parts, and could hardly put the book down. If you've ever heard about the "show not tell" approach to writing, you could really learn a lot from this book. Peter david is obviously the master of this technique. This book is well worth owning.
Rating: Summary: A pretty decent sci-fi romance, but... Review: ...why is it that so many writers exaggerate the "woman becomes adult earlier than man" cliche? For all its basis in some degree of truth (mostly during adolescence), it seems like most times when that issue is part of a story, it's overdone to the point of grotesqueness. For example, the Deanna Troi we all know is pretty enough to rate a second glance, but the real secret of her appeal is her earth-mother femininity, which is based more on her warm personality than her looks. You can easily imagine her once having been involved with Will Riker--after all, the exceptionally feminine woman rates the exceptionally masculine man as her partner--that's one of the givens of life--sort of a mixture of natural law and birthright. But this book takes this former couple back to their early 20's, and guess what? Troi isn't one whole lot different from her present-day self, but the young Riker is a laughable mix of lovesick junior high kid and knuckle-dragging varsity jock! As we the readers can tell by his thoughts when he first sees Troi (and as she bluntly points out when he approaches her), his attraction to her is almost entirely physical. If author David is trying to say "yeah, us men think mainly with our hormones when we're that age, mea nissan maxima culpa", he sure ain't speaking for me. To tell you the truth, I met a girl a lot like Troi when I was that age (in fact, when TNG first came on the tube, Troi reminded me of her). It was the beginning of a friendship that has lasted to this day. And I'll tell you this; it damn sure didn't take until our 30's for me to value her as a person. I have some advice for Mr. David; being politically correct in terms of gender politics doesn't necessarily mean a guy has to go to far as to trash his own gender!
Rating: Summary: DON'T READ THIS REVIEW JUST BUY THE BOOK!!!!! Review: This is THE Star Trek novel. I used to despise Star Trek novels until I found this one, and let me just say that it did a great job of showing me how great the Trek novel-universe can be. If you aren't a fan of Star Trek, or if you even plain out hate Star Trek you will still like this book! It has everything one could ask for: humor, action, love, and its nice and long! The only thing I regret is that they never turned this into an episode. This is one of those books that you feel horrible after completing because you know the next book you read will not be nearly as well written. At any rate THIS IS A MUST BUY FOR ALL STAR TREK NOVEL FANS!!! I just hope Imzadi II is as good as this one.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This story was wonderful. It was a fairly complicated plot. There was a suspense about the story until the end. If you have not read this story you must.
