Summary: This method really works
Review: I bought this book because this is the required text for guitar majors at USU and and Christiansen (the author of this book) is my advisor and teacher. He does a good job of showing readers who have never played a guitar before how to do so and he explains just about every concept for the acoustic guitar. I especially like the section on how to take care of the acoustic guitar; I already play bass and my lesson books for the bass didn't explain how to take care of a guitar. I also liked this book for the fact that Christiansen explains chords really, really well. I had just about given up playing bass chords because my bass chord book was so confusing. And while the electric bass and the acoustic guitar are two different instruments, I think I'll probably use this book and a bass chord finder to help me decipher bass chords. I really recommend this book, even if the acoustic guitar is your first instrument and you aren't a guitar major yourself.

Summary: Excellent instruction
Review: I used this book when I was first learning to play guitar, and found the lessons clear and easy to follow. The book is especially good for those who are guitar novices. There are drawings that label the parts of the guitar and show proper hand placement. A short glossary goes over basic guitar terms so the reader doesn't feel lost. The lessons are step-by-step, gradualy increasing in complexity to prevent the frustration common in learning a musical instrument. Christiansen worked as a guitar instructor, and it shows.

Summary: This method really works
Review: This method really works. I begun to learn using this book and DVD, also I remembered when I was 5 years old. The person who want to learn playing guitar only needs discipline and persistence.
