Summary: A Superior Book
Review: Frank Scoblete has written a brilliant book on blackjack that will appeal to both beginners and more experienced players. In twenty four chapters Scoblete covers such topics as basic strategy, card counting and getting the edge, the various rules and their effects on the player's edge. He has excellent sections on betting levels and money management and he thoroughly explains why some hands have to be played according to basic strategy even though you might intuitively feel differently. For example, 12 against a dealer's 2 upcard or splitting 8:8 against a dealer's 10 upcard. He also does an excellent job in analyzing the various card counting methods that have been created over the years and shows quite plainly why the simplest method, the Hi Lo, is the best method for most recreational players. There are detailed sections on new games or variations of blackjack such as Over-Under 13, Double Exposure for which Scoblete has a whole new strategy, red and black blackjack, Multiple Action blackjack and various bonus hands. He also explains how to employ guerrilla methods of attacking blackjack as well as scanning methods for insurance. But this book has even more than the above. There is great information on team play, particularly husband/wife or man/woman teams that I have never seen in any blackjack book or article. Scoblete is a master at interspersing stories and anecdotes about his experiences in the casinos so that his book is never dry. You will just roar with laughter at his description of "the ploppy from hell" and his story about "the million dollar bum" who took Treasure Island in Las Vegas for 1.4 million dollars is just outstanding. This is the very best blackjack book and, as other reviewers have stated, it well deserves the title BEST BLACKJACK!

Summary: If I Can Do It So Can You!
Review: I was always afraid to play blackjack but I decided I had lost enough money in the machines over the course of the last seven years. Over the summer I bought Frank Scoblete's Best Blackjack from Amazon.com and I must say a big thank you to Mr. Scoblete for writing a book that is easy to understand, enjoyable to read, and one that can give players an edge if they choose their blackjack games wisely. Since purchasing this book I have won more money in four months than I've lost in seven years. I play green and black chips and I follow Scoblete's advice scrupulously. If like me you were afraid to play blackjack because you felt you wouldn't know what to do, get this book. Scoblete is a master writer and you will learn everything you need to know to play and beat this fascinating game. If I could do it, so can you.

Summary: Thank you, Santa! It Was the Best!
Review: I just got the best Christmas present. Frank Scoblete's "Best Blackjack" and I have now gone to the casinos twelve weekends using his methods which are basic strategy and card counting. How could I have done all this and it isn't even Christmas yet? Because I got it last Christmas, 1998, and have been using this book for almost a year now. Scoblete is a marvelous writer who really understands the game and what is essential for winning at it. There are no wasted charts or graphs or complicated math that goesmore towards showing off the writer's knowledge than helping the player learn what is really essential. Scoblete knows how to give the most important information in a way that is easily understandable. The book is never dry and his stories and anecdotes are just wonderful to read. He accurately captures what it is like to gamble in Vegas and Atlantic City. I have read other blackjack books but this is far and away the best. Just as its title suggests.

Summary: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ONE!
Review: This book was written by a rank amateur! I bought this book because of the glowing reviews I read on the Amazon site, but, after reading it, I have to guess that those reviews were written by Frank Scoblete's friends. There's not a unique thought in the whole book. He regurgitates the little of which he understood of others' books, and fills in the gaping gaps with silly stories told to him by his friends. I have NO idea why a publishing company would put this book out! Scoblete presents the sum total of his knowledge, as little as that is, in the first few chapters and then drones on about things no blackjack players care about. Don't waste your money on this one like I did!

Summary: Simple and enjoyable
Review: English is my second language and I hate reading books. The only reason that I bought this book is because I lost a few hundred pounds the week before. Amazingly, I could understand every single words in this book and what surprised me more is that I couldn't put it down. And what surprised me most is that since then I only lost once to the casino after I learned all the tricks(Basic strategies and Card counting).

Summary: Best Blackjack is excellent for the beginner to intermediate
Review: I just read "Best Blackjack" by Frank Schoblette. I thought it an excellent book with the perfect mixturte of technique and high-roller stories. Frank details Basic Strategy, Card Counting, Variations on strategy based on Card Counting so that you can tip the odds in your favor at the casino. I have won hundreds using these techniques. But I have also lost hundreds. The book shows you how hard it is to win consistantly.

Summary: A Book for ALL Skill Levels
Review: Frank Scoblete has written a complete and comprehensive book that will appeal to all levels of blackjack players from beginner to skilled. He has the basic strategy, the card counting advice that you would expect to find, but he also has great sections that compare the various counting sustems being sold in other books. He explains how to read a dealer in those games where the dealers peek at their hole card. What also sets this book apart are the sections that deal with his own personal experiences in the casinos. These are funny, insightful and smack of the truth. I think if you want to enjoy and learn simultaneously then BEST BLACKJACK is a must read. I intend to give it as a gift to my friends who like blackjack.

Summary: Great Gift!
Review: I received this book for my 21 birthday and I read every last word. I then spent two weeks learning the basic strategy and some simple card counting technques. Then I went ot the casinos. Everything Scoblete wrote about I experienced in my five days at the casinos. If you really want to know what gambling is all about this is the book for you. I am very happy I received it as a gift because I made a lot of money and had a lot of fun.

Summary: Great Resource
Review: Scoblete's book is one of the best gambling books ever written. You'll learn a lot besides the usual basic strategy and card counting, including how to read dealers and which games are the best games to play. It is also a very enjoyable book to read.

Summary: Quality Book
Review: I enjoyed this book. It isn't filled with difficult math but sifts through all the material in previous blackjack research to get to the heart of the matter. Scoblete is a writer who does excellent research and knows how to present difficult material in a way that the average reader can understand. He also shines when he writes about the colorful characters he has met in the casinos. I loved his blackjack journal at the end of the book and I also howled with laughter at some of the incidents that took place with players he calls "ploppys". This book would make a great gift for people who are considering going to the casinos or who go to casinos and play their own poor strategies. Best Blackjack contains basic strategies for single and multiple deck games and card counting technqiues for these as well. He also compare the various counting systems that have been developed and offers the one that is easiest to learn and easy to use in a casino. All in all this is a great book and it does live up to its title.
