Rating: Summary: A Winner's Handbook! Review: If you want to learn how to play winning blackjack with the emphasis on "winning" then get this book. It will teach you all you need to know and like a good teacher it is a fun book to read as well.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable, Entertaining and Enlightening Review: I already knew basic strategy and I use the KO count system developed by Fuchs and Vancura. However, Scoblete has written so many good books on gambling that I thought I'd give his "Best Blackjack" a try. It was excellent. The man can write. I particularly enjoyed his chapters on team play, ploppies, the million dollar bum. The most wonderful part of the book was his Las Vegas diary section. As a player I can tell you that he has captured the madness! The book contains excellent information for beginners and intermediat players as well. It is well researched and Scoblete recommends further reading that will also be helpful. This is one of the six best blackjack books ever written in my estimation, although I have only read thirty three blackjack books to date!
Rating: Summary: The Best Long Range Approach to BJ Review: Serious blackjack players play for the long run. Scoblete's book teaches the methods you will need to survive and thrive against the casinos at the game of blackjack. There are excellent sections on basic strategy, card counting, and advanced play. The book is loaded with first hand observations and accounts that make what could have been extremely dry information exciting and enjoyable. Scoblete deserves his place as the greatest writer of gaming books in the world.
Rating: Summary: The Best is what Best Blackjack is! Review: A word to the wise is in order. If you want to really play the very best blackjack against the casino that you can, then get this book. It has helped me tremendously and I am finally winning the majority of my sessions. It is also a lot of fun to read.
Rating: Summary: Great Book for Players Review: What I liked about this book was how Scoblete was able to make his points without resorting to a lot of formulas and graphs. He analyzes all the top blackjack card counting systems and then explains why he thinks the hi lo is the best. The book is a good course on basic strategy, card counting and some advanced methods of play such as ace locating. You will also find that Scoblete is not just a writer but a player and his experiences in the blackjack wars make great reading. I particularly enjoyed his chapters on "The Million Dollar Bum", "The Ploppy from Hell", and his blackjack diary at the end. If you want to learn how to play and how to beat blackjack then read this book. If you already know the technical stuff then read it for pleasure. You'll find a lot here to enjoy. When you finish this book you then should read John May's "Get the Edge at Blackjack" which I have also reviewed today.
Rating: Summary: When to Fold When to Hold When to Hide Review: Scoblete is a very good writer. He shows you exactly what games to play and how to play them. The book is just great and since reading it I have had a positive expectation at blackjack. If you want to win and want a book that really shows you the is and outs of how to play, I recommend this book highly. I am ahead over 10K since reading the book and I am not that big a bettor!
Rating: Summary: One of the Two Must Read Books Review: In terms of books that can take you from knowing almost nothing about blackjack to becoming a skilled player, there are two that I have found to be the best: Knock Out Blackjack by Fuchs and Vancura and Best Blackjack by Frank Scoblete. Scoblete's book is the more enjoyable and entertaining. However, the Knock Out book has a counting system that is truly easy to learn. My advice is to get both. Scoblete is a warrior who has been in the casino wars. His diary at the end of the book is priceless and his insights into what it is like to play in casinos is the best I have ever read. Fuchs and Vancura, on the other hand, have created a simple but powerful card counting system in KO that I have been using with great success for over eight months now. I think these two books are just super. I recommend that you buy both to truly learn how to beat the game of blackjack.
Rating: Summary: This Taught Me A Lot Review: I learned a lot reading this book. It was also a lot of fun to read because the author is a superior writer. If you want to learn blackjack from a master, I recommend this book highly. It is not full of charts and math but explains what you need to know in plain English. There are also plenty of interesting stories that the author tells about his and his wife's adventures in the casinos.
Rating: Summary: Great Book and Easy to Understand Review: I just finished reading this book and I really learned a lot from it. It was informative and fun. The author is very knowledgeable and he is also very funny. This book taught me a lot. I think it is the best book I have ever read on blackjack.
Rating: Summary: This Book Saved Me Review: I had been playing blackjack for a couple of years but I never really knew the ins and outs of the game. This book in very clear and understandable language showed me how to be a winner. The book was also a lot of fun to read which just made it easier to learn.
