Rating: Summary: Complete Handbook for Winning Players Review: If you are new to the game of blackjack, this book can take you from novice to sem-pro. And you'll have fun doing so as Scoblete is just a great writer who knows his material inside out and backwards and really knows how to write. I use this as my bible of blackjack and I supplement it with Wong's "Professional Blackjack" and Schlesinger's "Blackjack Attack." But Scoblete is the author I most enjoy and I trust his experience. You'll just love his adventures in the casinos using the very methods he teaches in this book. This would make a great present for anyone interested in casino gambling and blackjack in particular. What makes Scoblete almost unique among gambling writers is that he is an avid player, notjust someone who runs computer simulations.
Rating: Summary: A Whiz Bang Book for Blackjack! Review: I have read several blackjack books, among them Stanford Wong's "Basic Blackjack," Henry Tamburin's Blackjack Take the Money and Run," and Don Shlessinger's "Blackjack Attack." I found Frank Scoblete's "Best Blackjack" to be the best of the lot by far. If you are relatively new to blackjack or are looking to hone your skills, this book has everything you need. It is also a lot of fun to read and really got me pumped to play a tough game against the casinos, which I have been successfully doing ever since I read it. I do not think the other three books I mentioned are bad, they are all good, but Scoblete is the master.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book to Learn and Perfect BJ Skills Review: There are many blackjack books available to the public. Some are very good. This book is the best one if, like me, you want to learn the game and develop the skills necessary to get the edge. I read this and knew nothing about BJ. Now, I have been winning consistently in Vegas and Reno. This isn't pie in the sky. Scoblete shows you why mathematically BJ is the game to play. He explains what games can be beaten and what game to stay away from. The book is also fun because Scoblete is a great writer.
Rating: Summary: Scoblete is Excellent Review: This book is masterfully constructed to teach you blackjack from A to Z. In easy steps, Scoblete shows you how to use basic strategy, which strategies are best, how to count cards and utilize other advantage techniques as they are called. If you can only read one book on blackjack, this would be my recommnendation.
Rating: Summary: ditto ditto ditto Review: on all those five star reviews - the book is a masterpiece - one of the best bj books ever written----
Rating: Summary: My Vote Review: I give my vote to those who think this is a great book!
Rating: Summary: The One Needed Book Review: I think if you could only read one blackjack book, this would be my selection. Best Blackjack can take you from being a novice with absolutely no experience to being an expert player. The book is well-written and each lesson builds on what came before. I really enjoyed the author's style. He mixes personal stories with his teaching of the various techniques, which makes the book hard to put down.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was the first Casino oriented book I've read, and definitely the first blackjack book. The author does make many references to other books, but I did not think that took away from this book. If, on the other hand, you have read some blackjack books before, then this might not be the book for you, as it's definitely theories mostly from other people. The one think Frank does even for people who have read other books, is summarize the most important things to know, and you can forget about the rest, and still maintain an edge on the casino. As someone just starting out in card counting I appreciated that a lot. And I figure someone who has read about other systems might feel overwhelmed at trying to remember it all. This book will boil it all down for you.I found Frank's approach in writing very appealing and a fast read. He can be very critical of some people though.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite of Five Review: I have read five books on blackjack, "Professional Blackjack" by Stanford Wong, "Blackjack Take the Money and Run" by Henry Tamburin, "Blackjack Attack" by Don Schlessinger, "Knock Out Blackjack" by Fuchs and Vancura, and "Best Blackjack" by Frank Scoblete. They were all very good books but Scoblete's was the best overall. As I was a novice, I felt Scoblete was able to take me from knowing nothing about the game to being a very competent player. When I finished reading his book I followed his advice and read the other books. Scoblete has a whole bibliography of recommended books in his book. I found that while I learned from each and every book, no one gave me the information in such an assimilable way as Scoblete. "Best Blackjack" was also a lot of fun to read as Scoblete intersperses his teaching with great stories. All five books are worthy in their way but I have to give my vote to Scoblete's "Best Blackjack" as being comprehensive but not daunting. I have been winning consistently at the casinos utilizing his ideas and I am very grateful. Blackjack is a great game if you know what you're doing.
Rating: Summary: Three Books in One Review: This is really three books in one. For novice players, Scoblete explains the game of blackjack, the basic strategies to employ, and how to decide which games to play. For the more advanced player, he explains how to count cards and how to use other advantage-play techniques to get the edge over the casino. For those who already know all the information about counting and strategies, Scoblete provides anecdotal stories, some hilariously funny, some thought-provoking, all of them enjoyable about his and others' experiences in the casinos. This book should therefore appeal to just about every blackjack or would-be blackjack player on the planet.
