Summary: WOW! WHAT A BOOK!
Review: If you dig traditional Japanese music, BUY THIS BOOK! It is very clearly and systematically written, and the NON-musician (like me!) misses very little. Accompanying CD is really neato (GOOD SOUND!), a large number of short tracks giving simple examples of the points that are featured in the text. Chocked full of interesting discussion and explanations, NO dumbing-down on the Reader! The Author obviously cares very deeply about sharing his expertise and enthusiasm for the subject matter. Destined to be THE standard reference on the subject, for many years to come. This book will magnify my Japanese "music appreciation" for the rest of my life. It is a thing very well done.
