Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Not original
Review: What a culture we live in where the only people that are listened to are celebrities!!! The author is not writing anything original or awe inspiring that has not been written before, except those writers had less "bankable" names.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A study in character.
Review: As I read this book I had an ephiphany, it's not just an insight into the wonderful actress, Camryn Manhiem, but a view into society as a whole, and the way it deals with "people of size", or other variations. I read this book and was moved to laughter and near tear by the heart warming, as well as heart wrenching stories are revealed chapter after chapter. I am so impressed with Ms. Manhiem's talent, acting and now writing. Camryn, YOU ARE WONDERFUL!!!! ...and so's the book...

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This woman is the best example of self love we have today!
Review: I think that if this is an actress who is the future of self exteem in our celebrities who goes to the mat to make sure she canand will empower others than I am glad to be here a this time in history. She is honest, funny, breathtakingly human and the guts of a real warrior for change on how we look at ourselves. To know her through this book, is to love her all the more for leading the way to freedom for all women.....For all of us with body image and self worth issues......We are lucky to have her as a role model..

Summary: Amazing Book by an Amazing Woman
Review: Like my fellow reviewers, I wish that Camryn Manheim was a personal friend of mine. Her book displayed her razor sharp wit, her emotional maturity, her intelligence and her absolutely awe inspiring "no bull--- detector." I loved it. There were a few sentences towards the end that had me in tears, but only because what Camryn wrote was so in tune with my life.

I had only seen Camryn Manheim at the Emmy Awards and was captivated by her enthusiasm for life but not been a fan of the show "The Practice." That's about to change. She deserves watching.

Thank you Camryn!

Summary: The Audio version, read by Manheim, is the book's equal
Review: I had already read Camryn's story in the hardcover Wake Up, I'm Fat, and wanted to hear her tell all in her own voice, so I bought the audio book (criminally not referenced anywhere in Amazon's site). All I can say is "WOW".

Although a lot has been omitted for the sake of abridgement, all of the guts of her story are right there, shared by Ms. Manheim, in her always charming "let's be buds" voice.

I know, after hearing her tell her story, if I ever were to see her, I would give her the biggest hug, and she would understand! Not only is she cool, she is approachable, in her almost childlike awe of Hollywood and her loving sense of humanity. I never watched The Practice before reading her book. Now I dont want to miss an episode so I can watch Camryn do what she was born to do--share her talents with the World.

And Finally, thank you Camryn for finally allowing me to stop the lifelong battle against fat, and letting me tell my Dad I am happy with who I am. I love ya for it.

Summary: It's about time!!!!!
Review: It is truly about time America!!!!! This book is a miracle tome for the overweight woman. I have never in my life read something so uplifting or welcoming of self acceptence. Camryn Manheim is unrelenting in her honesty about what it's like to grow up fat,be fat, and stay fat in today's society. This IS NOT a book supporting an unhealthy lifestyle of stuffing yourself into obese oblivion. It is rather, a book in support of a healthy MENTAL lifestyle. One of self acceptence and strength. What people don't realize when dieting is that they do it for all the wrong reasons. They do it to please someone else or fill a void. This book is not about dieting but about loving yourself fat and all. No diet or fitness plan will ever work long term without this core of inner acceptence. The ability to say "Hey I'm OK fat". This book teaches that principle. Yeah Camryn!! You are a leader of body acceptence for the new millenium.EVERY woman who is or ever has been overwieght SHOULD read this book. In fact any woman with body image issues(everybody!)should read this book.

Summary: It plays in Peoria!
Review: Ok, so I was a tad bit offended about the things Camryn said about Peoria, but I quickly got over it. Her wit won me over. Her candidness, humor and obvious intelligence makes for a great book. I highly recommend it... even for all your skinny friends "who could use a sandwich". "Wake Up, I'm Fat" definitely plays in Peoria.

Summary: Glorious, Inspiring, and moving
Review: My sisters... If you do nothing else today, do this. Get thee to your bookseller and buy "Wake Up! I'm Fat" by Camryn Manheim. Ms. Manheim is the Emmy award winning actress who plays Eleanor Frutt on "The Practice." She is glorious, and her book is amazing, and insightful, and is guaranteed to make you smile, cry, laugh, and feel so very very proud to be a smart, outspoken, large woman in 1999. Bless her heart. Isn't it about time?

Summary: This book ROCKS!
Review: I went into my local bookstore the day Camryn's awesome book came out and made them go get me a copy from the back room. I just couldn't wait for the fun to begin. I rushed home, reading random paragraphs while waiting at stoplights, and then read her amazing story in one late-night romp, turning page after glee-filled page.

I'll say it again...This book ROCKS!

I suspect that people who fail to enjoy this book or see its brilliant, important point may well be reacting to the sudden lack of someone (i.e., fat folk) to whom they can feel superior. It's just a suspicion, and not all that big a deal...

The point is: Camryn's book offers the common-sense-yet-oh-so-shocking notion that women of all sizes can love themselves, that we are all, fat or thin, absolutely flabulous!

Rock on, Fat Sister Camryn. You're my hero!!!

Summary: Better than I expected and then some!
Review: I expected this to have the same warm, fuzzy, how-to-have-more-confidence feel as, say, Emme's book or Katie Aron's. Now, those were both good, but Camryn Manheim's book is another animal altogether. She is an absolute riot and leaves nothing a mystery to the reader. She is totally in-your-face and encourages us all to take a stand against all sorts of injustices. Her life is a fascinating study, filled with stories that are alternately painful and hysterical. Everyone who can relate to discrimination on some level should read this extremely entertaining book. If nothing else, it's gratifying to see her get her just desserts.
