Summary: oh yeah
Review: long overdue as a subject. this book does it justice big time. an excellent piece of reference literature. staid types on the east coast as well as orthodox sticklers might not get it or appreciate it as much as west coast people--all i can say is that i'm from nebraska and i loved it. truly memorable data and stuff which should make everyone of jewish background and foreground proud.

Summary: TIME FOR AN UPDATE?
Review: Thanks to Maroon 5's Adam Levine and superstars Evan & Jaron...isn't about time this book gets updated? HAPPY HANUKKAH!

Summary: Not just for Jews
Review: The combination of Oseary, who knows his music, and Stiller, who knows his humor, makes this a great read. This is for those of us who want a modern view of Jewish culture, other than Joseph and Hadassah Lieberman. I enjoyed it so much, I am sending a copy to my friend in Israel for her birthday.

Summary: Interesting list, boring book
Review: The list of Jewish rock stars is really interesting (Slash, Perry Ferrell, etc), but the book itself is boring. Each entry is just a generic bio - nothing is mentioned about their Jewishness. Almost nothing in this book relates to Judaism except the list of people.

Summary: Sparse
Review: This book has short profiles of Jews in rock n roll. One reviewer accurately set forth many serious omissions including two great Jays, Jay Segal of the Tokens and Jay Black of Jay and the Americans. I also noticed that the great producer for Atlantic Records, Jerry Wexler was not listed. This book includes very short profiles with little substance. Therefore, this book is not much more than a list.

I found a profile of Carny Wilson interesting in which the author stated she is Jewish on her father's side. Really? Since when is Brian Wilson of the Beachboys Jewish?? Also, people who have some Jewish blood from their father's side but never lived as Jews are included so, the definition of a Jew is stretched. The book was a good idea but, it just doesn't cut it.
