Review: Well, what can I say that you do not already know? This is a book written by Mr. Smith himself about his music and his life, which we found out are one the same. LL is a very honest person. I have known about some of the details of his addictions, and I am very proud to know he did not hide any of them.I am a some what fan of LL, I have heard some of his music {Deepest Bluest was my favorite}.I have seen a few of his movies, Any Given Sunday and Deep Blue Sea to name a few. I am suprised that he did not say much about it though. The reason I said the above was to say that I am so into him that I will just put some mindless drable and give it a 5 star all the way. I mean that because a lot of "pure" LL fans just want him to make this. {Not all, just some} Some parts I found less then enjoyable were in what seemed like every chapter, he would put his iwes on God, drugs and such right there and not give you a choice to read it. There should of been a chapter intitled the "Race" chapter, the "Drug" chapter the "Feel Sorry For Me Because I Was Beat" chapter. I know that is a little over board but he just should not of mised it all. He talks alot about himself being very good, and he equaly talkes about himself being bad. It is a well written book. RyanAN

Summary: The best I have ever read
Review: LL Cool J is my favortie, artist, whether it be in rapping, acting, whatever he does. I bought this book on the day it came out, as with all of his c.d.'s. I read the book the day I bought it and I just couldn't put it down. The feelings he expressed, the stories of his own personal life were so intriging. i realized how no matter who you are- life isn't easy. You don't get a cheat sheet to life, you make it what you want, and he struggled to make his dreams come true- but look at him now!! LL I love you!!

Review: This book is good only because you cant get anymore honest than writing about yourself, and l.l. does that giveing the world a chance to scrutinize. I would have like the book to have been an even more exciteing read.Perhaps going into more depth about some of his associates and what exactly spiritually was he taught, so others can follow in the exact same steps. All in all 3 stars I understand its not a self help book. Although after 1 read I probably wont read it again.

Review: I am not a book reader. I don't like to read for personal enjoyment at all. Just to prove it I would rather clean the bathroom of my home than read a book. The only time I would be seen at a library is if I had to get a book for a class assignment in school. That is about to change 'cause a couple of weeks ago I was told I had to read a book for my Senior English class. The assignment was to read any book that we wanted and I chose "I Make My Own Rules" by L. L. Cool J. This book was very deep. It will take you into the life, struggle, pain, and rebuilding of James Todd "L. L. Cool J" Smith. From times before he was born to his climb up the latter of fame to his descent toward the pit of greed and darkness back up to the light. The book was not just for the sake of writing a book nor was it just for getting everything that has happened to him out in the open. It was a personal testimony or a written speech for the reader and youth that he feels would help in their quest to grow. If there was a way for him to reach one person and to help them see that you don't have to settle for less, or that there is more to life than what is offered, then he has done his job. "I Make My Own Rules" was an excellent book. Now having read it, I want to start personal reading and I will start with books like these. Even though this book dealt more with negative parts of his life, it gets his points across about being true to yourself and to others. By telling you about himself and what he has been through, there is the hope that you will see his mistakes and learn from them as he has. The point of view is from first person and well he speaks in a mild slang sort of tone which is makes it very easy for just about any person to read. He wants his reader to think about some of the things that they are doing or about to do and whether if they are worth the pain and struggle that sometimes come from our everyday mistakes. This book was a good one.

Summary: Review of LL Cool J "I make my own rules"
Review: This book was off the hook! In other words, it was great! Some people may not care for LL anymore on the hip-hop scene, but you can definitely call this book a comeback. It shows once again this guy is truly talented. Besides the music, I chose this book because I like the way LL presents himself in the public eye. After seeing him in a few interviews, I thought we might be on the same kind of vibe. The book only confirms my thoughts. This brother is deep. The book takes you through the life and times of LL (I don't want to give away anything). Once you have finished the book, you will understand why he has stood the test of time in the hip-hop world and beyond. He definitely "keeps it real" with his honesty, spiritualality, perspectives on life, AND people in general. This book is quite inspiring and it wont let you down, I guarantee it! Keep up the good work L!

Review: i respect LL Cool J alot.i like his older music better than his newer stuff but i always keep an ear on this rap pioneer.so when i found out about this book i was excited and it was real good.the rise of his career&the inside of the business especially chapter 9.this is the first book that i've ever read that had a sticker on it.that alone peaked my interest.he has done alot with his career from rapping,to actor on tv&film.a good solid read.

Review: This is the greatest book from a rapper that I read in my life. LL Cool J has not only proven himself as the greatest rapper ever, but one of the greatest human beings to ever walk the earth. I had friends and family read this book so that they can learn from the great one some of them took it to heart while some were to proud to admit that L is great because of what he went through. They are so rapped up in Tupac that they forgot who an originator of his style really is. You can not give this book enough praise because it was written so perfectly. This book isn't for african Americans, rappers, or rap fans. This book wasn't just made for minorities who are caught in the struggle. It was made for anyone with a pulse and a heartbeat. I guarantee no matter who you are you will enjoy this book. If you don't email me and give me your name and address and I will refund your money with a check. This book is that great. Anyone who is living life should read this book and make sure everyone they know either reads it or has it read to them. The best thing about it is that you can feel yourself interacting with L, experirencing what he was going through throughout the whole book. I love this book and I love LL Cool J because he has always been my father figure. I'm only nineteen and I've been listening to L's music for as long as I remember living. He is truly a great multi-talented all-around person. If you haven't read this book yet do it. Trust me it will not only change your life for the better, but it will help motivate you to do your best in the future. All of those haters who were to proud to give L his props did admit they liked the book, but they just don't want to realize who is truly the greatest. I'm going to meet up with L and do a song with him one because it is my dream. That's to his book I know that it is going to happen someday. I know I will not give up hope and I will train to be my best for when the day comes. Thanks to this book I not only love LL Cool J, but I also love life. I used to be depressed all of the time and hate life, but now I'm living it to the fullest in college and handling music buisness. No matter what anyone says L is and has been since the day he stepped in the game the greatest rapper ever. No ones stats even compares to his. Oh yeah and vote for his videos on TRL and other countdowns, he deserves to have his videos on the countdowns more then any of these unproven rappers out today. Excuse me for getting emotional, but this book is just that great. I love it. I'm asking anyone who hasn't read it yet pleas buy L's book I promise you won't be dissapointed.I guaranteed it and I'm a man of my word just show me a proof of purchase and give it a couple of read throughs first. Just like his music you will have to go over this book again to fully appreciate it. I also can relate to this book because my life is very similar to his. My father never shot my mother though, that's about the biggest difference. Just remember this "watch your mouth don't ever step out of line because LL Cool J is the greatest of all time!" I love LL and I love all of his true fans like I know them. Holla at me alright people Peace. PS. To all of you L haters learn what's real and forget what's fake word is life. When I learned that life was all of a sudden great for me. And it never would've happened if it wasn't for this book.
