Rating: Summary: I love Cynthia Heimel's writing... Review: ...but this collection is sparse compared to earlier books. I finished this one in less than one hour, and in hindsight would not have splurged on a hardcover edition. But everyone should read Heimel - I'd give 5 stars to all her other books.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious and true. And did I mention hilarious? Review: Cynthia Heimel has done it again. I have been a fan ever since the original Sex Tips For Girls, and she just keeps getting better. While this book is every bit as funny as her earlier books (maybe funnier), it also has an element of soulfulness beyond what we've seen from her before, which makes it even more wonderful than I was expecting. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: How does she do it? Review: Cynthia Heimel makes me snicker knowingly right out loud in public. She's wise, witty, pointed, and pulls no punches. Oh, and did I mention that she's funny? Especially her alter ego, Problem Lady? I recognized people I know on almost every page of this book. I may force my boyfriend to read it. If it doesn't terrify him, it will almost definitely give us lots to talk about.
Rating: Summary: Cynthia Heimel, every girl's best girlfriend Review: Cynthia Heimel writes the way real women I know talk about sex, love, relationships, marriage, and yes, dogs. I think she's as insightful and hilarious as ever. Like the original Sex Tips For Girls, her essays make me admire her attitude and aspire to her fabulousness.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious and then something else, too! Review: Cynthia Heimel's latest is long overdue: it's sort of a sequel to her 1983 Sex Tips for Girls and sort of a sequel to her other books -- part of the ongoing series of observations and gags and wisdom and wit and goofiness that is her body of work. In this new book she's as hysterical as ever, but some of the humor is heightened (or deepened) by more genuine pain than her earlier stuff. Somehow she manages to get through the most difficult moments -- the implosion of a marriage, the death of a wonderful dog -- with her voice intact, and her head battered but unbowed. Problem Lady -- always a high point -- returns.
Rating: Summary: Very funny and enjoyable Review: I love Cynthia Heimel and think this book is yet another wonderful addition to her collection...a more mature Sex Tips for Girls...and still a good dose of the famous Heimel wit.
Rating: Summary: Better Than Ever! Review: I loved this as much as -- or maybe even more than -- the original STFG. Cynthia Heimel rocks my world!
Rating: Summary: Heimel does it again! Review: I loved, loved, loved this book! I have read all of Cynthia Heimel's other books and also given them as gifts. Advanced Sex Tips for Girls: This Time It's Personal is no exception. I strongly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: Heimel Manifesto Review: I've loved Cynthia Heimel ever since someone brought a copy of _Sex Tips for Girls_ to a party and all the women ended up in a bedroom, reading it out loud. Since then, I've owned multiple copies of all her books because I keep giving them away. This new book is a gift. It's funny, it's poignant, it's kooky. This book has the same clear-eyed, hilarious and moving view of relationships you find in her other books. It's pure Heimel.
Rating: Summary: The female Woody Allen Review: OK, not quite -- where Woody is hung up about sex, Heimel has it figured out enough to give the rest of us neurotics a few pointers. While she's mellowed a little bit since the first Sex Tips, she's still clearly crazy and wonderfully funny about it.
