Rating: Summary: Smash my face in.... Review: Rollin's collection of short stories, poems and journal entries are brutal, honest and at times very funny. My gut was aching afterwards. I highly recommend this book to Republicans, Tipper Gore and Jerry Falwell.
Rating: Summary: In the book he learned to hate people Review: The book is about his journey on the road with his band Black FLag. I think that it would be hard to be a rock star. Dealing with people that you don't even know that come up to you and say they love you. They don't even know you. I'd hate having to always hide from the world. Or hear the stupid people, or deal with their actions. Towards the end it shows him wanting to get out of the secene. The book really shows how hard it is to be a rock star and how it can rip you apart. The book really made me understand how it would feel and it sucks to be them, or famous.
Rating: Summary: Great Stories. Review: This book gives excellent mental pictures of what goes on in a unique individuals mind. His travelling road tales are the best. Some of the chapters are long to read and some what uninteresting. I like Henry Rollins and his way of thinking is very unique. His prospective on simple things such as a headache are amazing. It sheds new light on some of the miserys of life. Only rated it a 4 out of 5 because not all of the chapter are good to read.

Rating: Summary: a great journey into the deepest parts of a mans mind Review: this book is exellent.......it is not a story, or an autobiograpy. It gives the reader a look into the mind of herny rollins.......some parts may seem disturbing, others may strike closer than you would like to admit......after reading this book it is impossible to see the world, and people as a whole, in the same light.....the style of writing, in which herny uses poetry, random jottings, and journal entries is unique and very effective... i would have givin it a perfect score if it didnt skip around times and events, but that problem can be solved by starting out with henrys other books first, since this uses exerts of all them.......all and all this is a book that every person should read so they can re-evaluate their own position in life

Rating: Summary: The Portable Henry Rollins Review: This book is one of the best I've ever read. If you are stuck on which Henry Rollins book to buy I suggest you get this one. It is an anthology of his past books put together in one hell of a book. If you are a Rollins fan or not, I recomend you buy this book. Trust me you wont regret it!
Rating: Summary: An incredible introduction to an incredible writer! Review: This is a brutal, and often times brutally funny, introduction to the writings of Henry Rollins. Trippy poetry, life on tour, observations on life and human nature.....this book has it all. If you've always been curious about Rollins and his work, this anthology will give you a fairly thorough sampling of what he does best -- make you think. I recommend this book highly.
Rating: Summary: The (Re)Evolution of Rollins Review: This is a great synthesis of Henry Rollins literary work since the eighties. And it is worth every penny. For the people that knows Rollins previously (in his work with Black Flag and the Rollins Band and his spoken word performances) and are not familiar with his writings, this is the place to start. This edition clearly shows Rollins' evolution through different stages of writing and each chapter is accompanied by a descripition made by him specially for this edition. Rollins writes freely, in method and in themes. Here you'll find stories, poems, short essays, and even some spoken word. And about everything: alienation, anger, redemption, jobs, weightlifting, rock concerts, and even love. I strongly recommend everything Rollins wrote. It is full of meaning and depth. Do yourself a favor and enjoy every word of this book.
Rating: Summary: Gave me some, now I wanna go again Review: This was my first real exposure to Mr. Rollins. I've now read the book twice (A rare thing for me) and will probably do it again. This book has proven to be a thought provoking and mind expandind introduction to Hank. I f you are curios as to what all the fuss is over this hulking tatooed rage magnet, check this book out.
