Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: These are my favorite celebs but not quite my favorite book. Review: I bought this little book because of my decade long love for the comedy of both Janeane and Ben AND because I had an hour to kill waiting for someone in the ER.While not as funny as I thought it would be, I found Janeane's essays on self-indulgence and anti-Maslow-ness to be a welcome change from the self-help society we live in. Ben's tales were entertaining and well written. If you can get your hands on the softcover version I recommend this for those of you who have a sense of irony and who have an hour to kill. Knowing most Americans do not have either of those two things I do not expect you will pick up this book at all.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Read Anything Else Review: If this was a movie, I would have walked out. Really pointless and rambling. I am still not sure if this was supposed to be humor or self help (? ). Ben Stiller had one amusing chapter in the beginning, but enjoy it while it lasts because that's all there is.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Came off very well on the audio book Review: Excellent parody of the self-help style with genuine self-help thrown in. Seinfeldic brilliance
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Chalk and cheese Review: It appears that after receiving a tonne of money, these 2 have dredged out hap-hazard content for each chapter. No back-bone Could it be that they can act (I believe so), ie translate others written words into action - but they can't actually do the writing. I believe that JG was proving to the world that she could use many brain twisting phrases (I got lost in most chapter - lost the point), and BS tried to keep up with her. She's definitely the stronger of the 2 - the winner if there was a competition. A lot of unresolved psyche problems for her. He needs to accept that he's just an ordinary Joe with a job that makes him famous - he's not brilliant/intelligent, but he sure is funny. Sorry - I was really disappointed - hope you guys do it seperately next time - Keep your day jobs - I applaud you at it!

Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Clambake Review: I LOVE Ben and Janeane as much as the next guy - okay, probably more than most (I really liked Mystery Men) BUT this is AWFUL! I hope they made boatloads of money because it certainly doesn't do much for their creative credibility. I didn't laugh once and struggled to find what would be considered funny to others. As an English teacher once scrawled on one of my papers- this has all the earmarks of a rush-job. Either they tried too hard to be funny or they didn't try at all. Either way, this is a lame book that I would even wrap up and pass off to someone else. Bummer.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Don't bother Review: This book is an embarassment for these two. Nothing funny, clever, or memorable here. Anyone who wants to read a really good book written by a comic should check out Laura Kightlinger's QUICK SHOTS OF FALSE HOPE. It's smart and it rocks, this doesn't.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: repulsive Review: i am a huge fan of janeane garafalo, and this is one of the worst excuses for a "book" i've ever seen. if i'd wanted to listen to whining that much, i'd have stayed in high school forever.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: just in time, the worst book of the century Review: this is very possibly the dullest book I have ever read. what really make it painful, is to watch Stiller and Garafolo try so hard to be funny. a waste of money without question
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Feel our pain! Review: I love Stiller and Garofalo, but as I read this book, I kept waiting for the funny part. Imagine how disappointed I was to get to the end and not find it! I was looking under the book jacket for hidden pages or SOMETHING, anything satisfying. As much as I really want to love everything they do, their comedy just doesn't translate to the printed page. This book is a series of lukewarm essays that, although they may have their moments (Stiller's roadtrip diary being one of them), don't build on each other, and never attain critical mass. My suggestion: If you want to support Ben and Janeane, buy the book, but spare yourself the pain and don't read it.
