Summary: ABOMINATION
Review: These 2 profound DUMMIES should be punched in the jaw. How dare they insult the intelligence of collective humanity with this HORRIFIC stench! - THIS IS PURE GARBAGE!

Summary: actors not authors
Review: I usually am entertained by the aforementioned actors, but authors, they are not. I had less of a problem with Garofalo's banter, but Stiller, made no mistake about mentioning over and over that he was writing the book for the advance and the revenue that it would supply. Stiller's voice can virtually be heard through his writing which was just innane banter thrown down on a page and attached to his name with the hope that it would draw readers. This book is not worth the time or the money that in essence is exactly what the authors were after. Their apparent motives are insulting to their fans and readers.

Summary: Two Jerks
Review: They are hilarious on TV, let's keep them there. Being funny actors does not make them funny writers or witty either. This book is just another sell-out, a quick stab at an extra buck before their fifteen minutes of fame are over.

Summary: Stiller & Meara funnier than Stiller and Garofalo
Review: What's worse than a dull book by a comedian? How about one written by two?

What does farting on a date and sex with your dog have to do with this alleged parody of the self-help movement? Beats me, and the publisher must have wished he could do the same thing to Ben Stiller and Janeane Garofalo for turning in this travesty. But then, a publisher who believes that comic actors must also be comic writers as well deserves what it gets.

Stiller and Garofalo -- lord how I wish it were Stiller and Meara writing this -- adopt a tone of earnest, smart, knowing, smirking cynicism and wear it as well as Mr. Rodgers in a do-rag and droopy jeans.

Feel it, burn it, return it, but don't bother reading it. It's not worth it.

Summary: Who Are These Mystery Men, Really?
Review: There should be a warning on the cover of this book: FASTEN YOUR SEAT-BELTS, IT'S GOING TO BE A BUMPY RIDE, because I guarantee that by the time you're deep into "Feel This Book," you're head is going to be swiveling around on your neck till you feel like Linda Blair in "The Exorcist." Ben Stiller and Janeane Garofalo take it upon themselves to lead you down a path few have traveled, with this self-styled "essential guide to empowerment" and other stuff. What you get will include a lot of cryptic, mysterious, sometimes amazing and often unbelievable passages that will leave you a) laughing. (A lot); b) scratching you head (A whole lot); c) looking at yourself in the mirror (frequently); d) wondering about the true nature of the entire Universe as we know it (and even the parts we don't have a clue about); e) see "a;" and f) asking yourself, "Who are these people, really?" In alternating chapters, beginning with a "He said, she said" brutally honest (?) account of their own relationship, they tell stories, share observations and generally do a stand-up job of entertaining the reader. Stiller gives new definition to the term "deadpan" with as wry a delivery as anything this side of a pastrami on, well, you know. Garofalo on the other hand fires up her acerbic wit to deliver such scathing commentary that no-one on the planet will be able to escape unimpaired. She caustically shares her (extremely low) opinions of just about everybody and everything (apparently including herself), and leaves you wondering just who her target audience is, since her barrage levels everyone in her path (as well as any and all innocent bystanders). However (and call this contradictory if you will), as you're going down, you'll be going down laughing. Really. It's that kind of book. The bottom line is, Garofalo apparently has more hang-ups than a telephone solicitor for a carpet cleaning company, so even though she's maligned you, it's done with such an endearing quality that you're merely left with the feeling of (as Roger Waters once said) that "Warm thrill of confusion." But, let's face it, there's only so much acid you can digest before you develop an ulcer. Perhaps that's why Stiller complements her diatribes so well; his dry anecdotes and tales are like a tonic when it's needed. In the final analysis, I urge you to approach this book with caution; arm yourself with the right frame of mind and forge ahead. By the time it's over, you just may have laughed yourself silly.

Summary: no thanks, i'd rather feel broken glass
Review: being a true fan of miss garafalo and most of her previous work, i dutifully ordered this book, and with bated breath, i awaited its arrival. i shouldn't have wasted my time. it is seriously one of the worst books i have ever read (and this is coming from a person who LOVED mystery men.) i was truly disappointed with the diatribes between the two authors, whom i once considered very witty. it was nauseating, and if you do one thing this whole year, it will be to stop yourself from buying this horrible book.

Summary: Where's the funny?
Review: Ben Stiller and Janeane Garofalo must be the only people laughing at the book... The only joke here is the fact that this thing got published. My friend told me that she fell asleep reading it, I wish I had. Short on humor and totally lacking substance, this book is the mindless indulgence of two celebrities. Next time these two author a book, I hope that have something to say, and hire a comedy writer to add some real humor.

Summary: An Interesting Experiment...
Review: As a big fan of Ben Stiller and Janeane Garafolo, I picked up this book when it was available in paperback. While there are several laugh-out-loud moments, most of the humor is subtle and some parts seem like the authors are rushing through in order to fulfill the obligation of writing a book. If you're a big fan of either author, I'm sure you will like this book. If you're on the fence about them or hoping for something as funny as their other projects -- you might be disappointed.

Summary: Feel This Book: An Essential Guide to Self-Empowerment,
Review: Could not even finish the book - it is truly a total waste of time. I'm in a book club and we thought this might be great because we were all fond of the two actors who wrote the book. We decided after two weeks into the reading assignment to stop because there would be nothing to discuss.

I read approximately 2 chapters and it was a chore to just get through the first two that I simply couldn't continue. I wish I could even comment on the chapters I did read but I don't even remember them.
