Rating: Summary: It's About Time for "Why Bother..." Review: As a friend and CNN colleague of Laurin Sydney's, I can tell you honestly, that anyone who walks into Laurin Sydney's office can see the two distinct sides of her personality. Near her desk, on one side, neatly stacked research material for her celebrity interviews. When she's sitting in her desk chair or at her computer, you know she's preparing for "Showbiz Today". But, when you see her on the floor with ribbons, cookie cutters, and magic markers, we know she's crafting another "Why Bother..." masterpiece of an idea. Laurin's office has long been the place her friends and co-workers visit when looking for a novel and brilliant way to give a gift, a dinner party, or a bridal shower. In her years covering celebrities, Laurin's taken copious notes and filed some of their secrets with her own ideas and has shown us all how everything from a thank you note to a swanky affair for 500 guests can be transformed with simple little touches. Each time Laurin has saved one of us while in a "crisis for ideas", her friends have said, "If only you could write a handbook for us to follow!". Well, at last she has. And, "Why Bother, Why Not" with it's colorful and simple instructions, brings hope to every dinner-party-idea-starved reader. She teaches us in simple terms how a whimsical thought can make a party or a gift, something not soon forgotten. "Why Bother, Why Not", now sits in my kitchen near my cookbook, where I can grab it quickly when I'm at a loss for ideas, and I don't want to bother Laurin in her office when I see her doing her OTHER job! It's about time I learned how to "Why Bother.. " on my own. And thanks to Laurin's book I am learning, but I'll still be knocking on her door with wrapping paper and twine looking for inspiration.

Rating: Summary: PARTY Review: I bought this book because my parent's were celebrating their 40th anniversary. My brothers and sisters and I wanted some ideas so that they would remember such a wonderful day. There were many ideas for both parties and gatherings and presents.

Rating: Summary: I give it an A for adorable! Review: I live in Mexico City and it's often hard to find anything to make an event special. After I saw an excerpt of this book on CNN.com the other day, I knew I had to have it. Our Xmas dinner was totally styling with everything from angel shaped butter, to red and green ice cubes (ok, my 6 year old wanted to make blue ones too). With 18 dinner guests (and some of them small kids), I thought I had zippo extra time to do something special. What I learned with this book was that I didn't need extra time, as everyone in the family thought the ideas were so cool that they all pitched in (and fought over) who got to do what.... Move over Martha...there's a new game in town (and it's a lot more fun!) Liz

Rating: Summary: I give it an A for adorable! Review: I saw Laurin Sydney talking about her book on The Rosie O'Donnell show this morning, and thought the projects were so adorable, that i ordered a copy of the book for myself. The projects that she did on the show were fabulous. I love the idea that everyone deserves to be treated like stars. Thanks Laurin!
Rating: Summary: This book touches on areas that no book has done before! Review: i was given this book as a birthday present, and i couldn't be more excited about it. Laurin Sydney's projects are so easy and creative... two things that i like. The pictures throughout the book are adorable, and i love the bits of celebrity gossip that are sprinkled through the book. I'm going to give this book to all my friends.
