The voice on the audio is just horrible ! Makes you want to turn the cd player off, off with your great ambition to improve your singing technique !
Save your money and go by a nice record of your favorite female singer to sing along with her.

Review: I would recommend this book with CD. Every voice teacher seems to have his own philosophy, but only with daily exercises can one develop his/her voice. This CD helps me do my exercises and I've seen a dramatic improvemment. Like a personal trainer on CD! Definately worth it. The whole thing is the cost of one lesson with a professional teacher.

Review: I've owned this book for several years now. I take weekly lessons, but whenever I start daily practicing with the CD's everyone notices a tremondous improvment in my sing ability. The excercises are great! Regular practice helps strenthens, your diaphram muscles, the foundation of good singing, as well as increasing your range. I don't know that I would make use of everything in the book, but I would buy the book for the CD's. As one singer once said: "If I skip a day of practicing I know it. Two days, the critics know it. Three days, the audience can tell." These CD's are great for daily practicing, even if you do it in the car.

Summary: One of the best books on the subject of Singing
Review: Mr. Allen didn't step over anything when he wrote this book. He describes how it feels so accurately and explains the whys and wherefores in a succinct understandable way. It helps my students remember what works especially when their lessons are taped.I like his take on registers.

Summary: Excellent Exercises
Review: The CDs that come with the book offer excellent vocal exercises that strenghthen and expand the voice and range. The book and the CDs are far less expensive than a voice teacher. There is also a poster with a diagram of how the voice is produced-how it resonates throughout the body. An understanding of this is helpful in learning how to "place" the tones.Also, Mr. Allen's descriptions of where the resonators are and what they will feel like if you are singing properly are very helpful. I recommend this book to any singer who wants to get her chops together.
