Summary: Biography carried to a higher level
Review: A good biography is one that captures the reader's attention and doesn't let go until the entire life story has been told. A great biography not only tells the story of a life, it shares the life in a personal, intimate way not achieved in other works. Patricia Butler has written a great biography. After reading this book, one comes to know both Jim and Pamela Morrison as much more than just names from our shared musical past. We meet them on the most intimate of levels, learning what makes them tick -- with each other, with their friends and families, with the fans of the Doors. This isn't a book just for fans of the Doors; it's a book for anyone who wants to know a modern-day Romeo and Juliet story. Buy this book, and read it. You will not be sorry that you did. Well done, Ms. Butler, well done indeed!

Summary: Candid, Agenda free portrayal of Jim and Pam
Review: I really enjoyed this book. Like many of the other reviewers, I too have read all of the Doors books and many times, been disappointed. Ms. Butler did an exceptional job introducing the reader to Jim Morrison, human being, flesh and blood.

She presents a seemingly honest, well-researched, candid portrayal of Jim and Pam. Other books barely scratched the surface/acknowledged the importance of Pam in Jim's life. We always knew she was there, but never who she was. I think Patricia Butler attempted to present a true picture of Jim/Pam and she did a great job.

No one will ever know exactly what their relationship was really like - but I believe PB presents the most likely scenario.

Summary: Great book!
Review: I thought this book was a great insight of the relationship between Jim and Pamela Morrison. Anyone who likes Jim Morrison or a good romantic story should read it.

Summary: Excellent and insightful
Review: Despite the number of books about Jim Morrison and his world, this one stands out for a number of reasons, primarily due to the innovative approach of the author. It conveys the "Strange Days" of the 1960s without prettying them up with nostalgia and presents both Jim and Pamela as real people rather than counter-culture icons. The myth and mystique of Morrison is dealt with in an even-handed manner. Highly recommended.

Summary: A great glimpse into the other side of Jim
Review: For those who wish to see a glimpse of what transcended between Jim and Pam, I recommend reading this book. It's wonderfully written, and a joy to read.

Summary: A Love Letter
Review: This book made me cry. What Jim and Pam shared was so passionate and so real, it really made me wonder what they could have become if circumstances didn't keep trying to tear them apart. A wonderful book, really beautiful.

Summary: Terrific!
Review: I was SO excited to read this book! I came away really feeling like I knew Jim Morrison for the first time. And I was just as excited to see all the new information not only about Jim, but especially about Pam, too. It's a terrific love story, and I'm glad I finally got to read the true story behind it. Thanks!

Summary: If all else fails we can whip the horses eyes...
Review: It takes a lot of guts to research and write a book about/connected to Morrison...there will always be an inevitable backlash from some Morrison camps. Fans want to hear more and more about the great velvet menace but they want to only hear what they want to hear. You can't have it both ways guys.

Whether you like the book or not you walk away knowing more than you did before and wasn't that the reason why you read it in the first place?

Personally; I liked the book and having met Patricia in Paris many years ago before she even started writing it, I can say her heart is in the right place and she wrote the book with the truest of intentions.

I have got something out of every book I have ever read about Morrison, even the bad books. Having also enjoyed 'My Life With and Without Jim Morrison' it was nice to see another side of the story.

I think the Romeo and Juliet comparison is fairly apt. They were in love, he spoke with poetry and they both died tragically. Why this comparison surprises people is beyond me.

Im still unsure as to how he really died and how much of a part Pamela played in; a definative factual book on that alone would be great. There was one book that alluded to that but it didn't really tell us anything solid in my opinion. But we love a mystery dont we.

Well done Patricia...you did what you said you were gonna do on Rue Beautreilles that night in '92, I'm proud of ya.

Summary: Best thing in the book are the colored pictures.
Review: This book gets one star for a short autobiography of Pam, and the 4 color pictures in the book. As for being informing on the relationship between Jim and, Pam this book fails big time. Patricia Butler doesn't really tell the reader anything to show Pam was anymore special than anyother girl in Jim life. furthermore to compare Jim and Pam to romeo and juliet is absourd. Jim and Pam are both dead and, only one of them could accuretly tell the true story of their love for one another. That is way Patricia Kennealy book is so much interesting to read. If your interested in some nice color pictures of Jim and Pam this book has them.

Summary: No "biography" here -- Don't be fooled
Review: It's not a biography. It's an overblown book report/slam book entry. Sophomoric, brainless, devoid of style, and hopelessly mushy (in all the wrong ways), Angels Dance and Angels Die is no tribute to Pamela, to Jim, or to their relationship. This is the book the author tried for six years to write? It seems she should have tried a little longer. No book on Jim is perfect -- they all have their flaws, which of course reflect upon their authors. All this book reflects are Butler's failed aspirations as a biographer (getting it published doesn't mean it's any -good-), and frankly, that's not worth the investment of the cover price or the reading time. Memoirs like Strange Days and Light My Fire may also be clouded by the author's personal agendas, but at least they are honest memoirs -- not psuedo-facts and rumors tarted up as legitimate biography. Jim deserves better. Pamela deserves better. And the readers deserve better.
