Rating: 4 stars
Summary: High quality study material
Review: This book is a collection of essays and game analysis by Dvoretsky and other authors. It is material that Dvoretsky collected for use in the training of his own students. Various middlegame themes are approached from a psychological point of view. Interesting reading, and essential for those who have read his earlier works such as Tactics.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Last book in series
Review: This was the seventh and final book Dvorestsky released in English during the 1990's. The first two books in his series have been re-issued by the Olms publisher, and have been revised and re-translated. This book from the late 1990's, Attack and Defense, contains many chapters written by author's other than Dvoretsky, and is a continuation of material presented in Dvoretsky's book Secrets of Chess Tactics (which has been re-issued under the title Tactical Play). If you want the meat and potatoes get Tactical Play, if you want dessert get Attack and Defense.
