Summary: Disappointing
Review: I have no idea why but I've always liked Tom Arnold. Maybe it is the self-deprecating humor. Maybe it is his willingness to marry women who are far from the Hollywood ideal. (Not a common trait among celebrities.) Maybe it is his boyish charm.

But this book is just unbelievably annoying. Trust me, I wasn't expecting much. I know celeb bios are generally pretty fluffy. But this was worse than I expected. Luckily, I checked it out at the library, so it didn't cost me a cent.

Here are the reasons I didn't like the book:
1)The premise - that he is writing the book to his unborn, and as yet, unconceived child, is both silly and distracting.
2)The book is very poorly organized. It wanders all over the place in chronology and subject matter. I'm guessing it was thrown together very quickly.
3)He leaves out all the most interesting stuff. Like more details of life with Roseanne. And there are no pictures of Roseanne or the infamous assistant Kim. Just picture after picture of his current love, Shelby. (Who fits the Hollywood ideal like a glove, by the way.)

The bad news is the book is a waste of time and money. The good news is Tom Arnold does seem to be a pretty decent guy. I don't like his book, but I still like him.

Summary: A second rate book from a second rate actor.
Review: I liked this book because it was a page-turner. I hated this book because it really wasn't funny or interesting or intriguing. It's not a bad book, just a book worthy of Tom Arnold's semi-celebrity.

First off, it's small, quick, and fluid and very readable. That's always a huge plus. Also, a few of the stories are fun, like the parking war with the Seinfield cast.

Here's the bad. Tom likes to discuss his views and family, friendship, and how to live life. Of all the people in the world, why would I want to know Tom Arnold's opinion on this topic? Also, many of his stories and family problems are just not interesting. He speaks in general terms, instead of getting into funny specific stories. Finally, it dawned on me that his life is just not interesting, and it shows.

It's a good page-turner, occasionally funny, but not something I could recommend to everyone.

Review: I think Tom's book is great! Great Title too!

Summary: If Hemmingway Had Been From Iowa
Review: If Hemmingway had been from Iowa and he had married Roseanne, he might have been able to write this book. Otherwise, leave it to Tom Arnold. Tom speaks from the heart and he speaks the truth. Anyone who can't emphasize with Arnold's lessons learned isn't human. This multifaceted 'tour de force' leaves other celebrity 'tell alls' in the lurch. Why does Julia Louis-Dreyfus hate Tom? What did he tell Roseanne right before the national anthem? How low is his sperm count? You'll never know unless you pick up this magical tome. It's a perfect book for Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza and Pagan New Year.

Summary: Even the reviews are funny and insightful
Review: If we judge a book by its cover, we know that the title is hilarious and that the insider "reviews" are quite insightful. You see, Tom is a Hollywood guy. He just wants to fit in ( like everyone else in this town ) and he admits it openly and with the conviction. He finished several 12-step programs, he's been divorced more times than anyone south of the Mason-Dixon line can count, and he even changed his religion and his political affiliation when he thought it would bring him closer to people in Hollywood. Well, it has. Tom should be Mayor of this city. He is Mr. Hollywood. In fact, just look at the "reviews" from the denizens of Tinsel Town and you can actually tell who Tom's real friends are and who's faking it. For example: Steve Tisch honestly says he'll never read the book. Friend. However, Kathie Lee Gifford pretends to have read the book. Not-a-friend. Don Roos actually sat down to write the review, but he probably didn't read the book. Sort-of-friend. Bill Mahr probably scanned the book and chuckled once or twice. He has his own problems. Friend. Craig Kilborn didn't read the book and admits it. Friend. Now... Arnold Schwarzenegger, bright man that he is, wouldn't be caught dead reading Tom's book in case Maria found out. Tom is to Mr. Universe what Bonzo was to Ronald Regan. Simply put, Tom represents everything that the Terminator abhors. His assistant even had the temerity to plug TRUE LIES in the review. Not-a-friend-but-finds-Tom-amusing-at-celebrity-functions. If you wish to study the kind of personality it takes to feel at home in Hollywood, I think this book will be of great service. Everything in LA is ass-backwards and nothing is real. But every now and then a celebrity wears their heart on their sleeve and it isn't a prosthetic appliance. Tom Arnold is probably that kind of guy. There's a good chance that I'll buy and read his book. And if I could rent him for parties, I would.

Summary: Great Book If You Enjoy Tom Arnold
Review: If you are already a fan of Tom Arnold than you will really love this book. Many of the stories are either very funny, very sad, or exactly how I felt in similar situations. I was disappointed in how the book ended, it seemed very rushed. With all of the profound stories sprinkled throughout, it kind of ends with a big blah... If you are not a fan, you probably won't be as into it as his fans are, but still an interesting read.

Review: This book is so funny. When I read it, it was funny kind of like a purple bear that prances around on its bottom. Well, you know what I mean.

Summary: IT'S A MASTERPIECE!
Review: Tom Arnold is not only one of the best comedians around, but an amazing author. From the first chapter I knew I was not going to be able to put the book down. I went from laughing to crying to laughing in minutes. He talks about real life and the hardships that come along with it (his life) and he sprinkles humor into every sentence that ends up leaving you in stiches. The book is emotional, sincere and hilarious. I read the book in one night and I want more!!! I highly recommend you buying the book.
