Summary: This is fraud.
Review: "My Life With..." turns out to be nothing more than a couple of months in the late eighties. Unfortunately you will only discover this too late. "Inside the Zoo" would for most suggest that the writer will be sharing some real insider knowledge or behind the scenes perspective on the band, its members, their creative side etc. You'll get absolutely none of that in this book, its just a fraud. You'll learn virtually nothing new about the band (and this is the first book I've ever read on U2) but a whole lot about the writer, whether you are interested or not. I felt cheated after reading the book. It pretends to be something it is not. The claim that the writer was "part of the inner sanctum of U2" does not show in the book, at all. One of my dumbest buys ever. Avoid.

Summary: Her name says it all Lola (In it for the) Cashman !!
Review: Her name says it all Lola (In it for the) Cashman !! Everybody's Human and Lola likes to get the point across that the band are as fragile and human as the rest of us ~ Yes this is true but at times a little over the top. Yes people are quick to jump to the defense of U2 being loyal fans etc so they may not be happy at times reading some of the content but that seems to be the only aim of the book. I felt that Lola's credentials were damaged somehow by interesting incidents where certain members of the giant that is U2 (Not referring to band members) said "You cant take us all on ..." and made various other accusations. Certainly a interesting read but it is a CashCow and I'd like to think everybody already knows Mega rockstars are concerned about image and often do silly things but at least these guys are out there using there success to the benefit of mankind and not squandering it in the gutter (or maybe thats her next book). Worth the read, bit iffy on the content and parts are just for the shock factor ?

Summary: PLEASE DON'T WASTE MONEY ON THIS BOOK!!!!
Review: I am so disappointed I allowed myself to buy let alone read this book, albeit I am proud to say I bought it used and not new thus I did not contribute to the sales for this author. This book is complete trash, crap, waste of time from someone so obviously grasping to capitalize on her time spent with the greatest band in history, U2. Ms. Cashman is so intent to convince the reader she was lured into the U2 lair, hand-picked by Bono himself whilst no one else within the U2 organization liked her, and she spoke so negatively about Ellen Darst which I find so hard to believe her words. I find it difficult to believe Bono would be attracted to luring someone of this caliber to work for him! This author also took great pains to bore the reader to tears with stories of her father, family and up-rearing along with the gambling and crooked antics surrounding the life she was raised in. It really isn't about U2 or working for U2. Lola Cashman is an ego-maniac, on a mad search to find someone, anyone to accept and love her. It is my hope this book did not make much profit for her. If I were wealthy I'd expend the energy to gather up as many copies as possible and have a great big bon fire. Kindling is about the only thing this piece of trash is good for, and that's being kind. Whether you are a U2 fan or not, especially if you are, PLEASE do not even waste your time on this book. I won't even keep my copy or loan it to anyone, I will burn it.

Summary: I've changed my mind about this book
Review: I decided not to buy this book because I heard it was unofficial and the band weren't happy with it. I didn't want to read the sniping criticism of a bitter ex-employee of my favourite band. Then my girlfriend gave it to me for Christmas and I dipped into it on Christmas Day and couldn't put it down. Lola Cashman isn't bitter at all. She's just someone with an amazing story who wants to tell it to the world. I think all other fans would enjoy her inside anecdotes about the band. The thing that comes across most strongly is how much she enjoyed her whole experience with them, and how well she got to know their individual quirks and strengths. I'm pleased I gave the book a chance.

Summary: A must read for all hard core U2 fans
Review: I finally plucked up the courage to buy this book and i am so glad i did.
I am a huge fan of U2 and after reading the unauthorised stories, certainly felt like i had a better understanding of what actually takes place behind the scenes with such superstars and their management. After all we are all grown ups and i can well believe Lola's stories of inhouse jealousy and power struggles.
I would like to have read more about Lola and her adventures. A must read for all hard core U2 fans

Summary: Is this book about U2 or Lola Cashman??
Review: I have just 3 words for this book...trash, trash, and more trash. There is nothing new or interesting here. True U2 fans will most assuredly already know all of the "gossip" the author shares here...and anything that's new is not worthy of being printed. In addition, there are way too many pages devoted to Ms. Cashman's life before and after the time she was lucky enough to have worked with U2, which doesn't have anything to do with her time with U2. I really didn't want to buy this book, but I guess curiosity got the better of me and I figured there would be some interesting tidbits. Unfortunately I was wrong.

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK
Review: I've never read a more selfish book than this one. Why anyone should care what this author has to say escapes me. She certainly didn't prove me wrong in this assumption. I was so disappointed in reading it I couldn't even finish her even more selfish epilogue. I feel like I need to pay someone to take this book off my hands.

Its just poor writing and story telling in general. I could go on and on. I thought I was going to gain some insight if she actually made an impact with her contributions to the band but even she couldn't brag about that because she really had no impact what so ever.

What a fraud. She writes a book about herself in the context of U2 yet puts Bono on the cover. If you're going to write a book about yourself put yourself on the cover. I wish I could get my money back for this book.

(...)P>good luck and DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK.

Summary: Great backstage pass
Review: This is a very interesting look into the fashion and music industry from an inside source. It is about a woman's journey through her successful career, which just happened to include a job as a stylist for U2. The story paints a great visual of being on tour with a band and how the image of Bono and his band mates was created. If you want to take a peak into the backstage of U2 and be entertained by an interesting woman's memoirs, I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Best celebrity Biography Around
Review: This was the best celebrity biography I've read for a long time. Other readers have found it a problem that Lola Cashman's story is mingled with the story of the band, but that's exactly why I enjoyed it. It isn't just the story of the band - it's the story of a feisty woman's rise from rags to riches and through her story we see a whole different aspect of U2. We see them as they appear to someone with similar expectations and assumptions to us, who saw them in some of their most intimate and human moments. Because she's someone like us we can trust her down-to-earth viewpoint, and it makes the whole thing much more believable. Because she knew them so well she has some amazing stories you wouldn't normally hear. You also are given an insight into how a pop group's image is created: before Lola joined the band's team, they didn't have a unified style of dress. Anyone at all interested in U2 - or even just in more general questions of fame and celebrity - should definitely buy this book.
