Summary: Incomplete, but still a GREAT collection of Bond posters!
Review: At last a collection of James Bond posters! While I wouldn't say this book is complete in a check-list sort of way, I do think it's pretty darn impressive. This book owes much to a German publication released in 1997 called LICENSE TO THRILL. In fact, it uses many of the same images and utilized the same basic format. But at least with this book I can read the text (or what there is of it).

The best thing about the book is the concept art for OHMSS, DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, and LIVE & LET DIE. The OHMSS concept art is worth the price of the book alone. It shows you not just variant posters, but a whole different approach to marketing the movie. The "007 and Bride" posters are wild and I think this would have made a great campaign. It certainly would have been the most daring and different campaign ever done for a Bond film and I think perfect for this very special movie. For those of you who love montage art, you've got to see the Thai OCTOPUSSY and NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN posters (too bad it doesn't have the Thai A VIEW TO A KILL which is in the German book).

The only disappointment (and this was true of the German book as well) is how little space is devoted to the later films, especially the Dalton films. Paramount is the fact that, even though they make reference to it in the text section for LICENCE TO KILL, there are no examples of the unused and vastly superior LICENCE REVOKED campaign by Robert Peak. This is a glaring omission! Also, where's the standard U.S. one-sheets for NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY? Strange.

But aside from these points, I would say this book is a must for Bond fans, especially if you don't have the German book.

Summary: Picture of the past
Review: It's sad to see how [poorly] the poster art for the Bond films have become in the past decade. But this collection allows you to relish the amazing images and see Bond around the world.

Review: One of the most extensive and brilliantly documented books I have seen and read about the subject. Full marks to Tony Nourmand on his latest publication. Enjoyed it thoroughly and would highly recommend it.

Summary: Bond the Icon
Review: The only reason I am not rating this book 5 stars is that the selection of posters from my favorite Bond film, 'You Only Live Twice', was limp. That said, the book exceeded my expectations for showing 'the images of the fantasy' of Bond: the debonnaire sexual animal, the wry expression on his face, the ever present gun, boobs, booze, and world saving mission....A wonderful surprise was all the foreign posters, which really added a dimension of how other cultures have interpreted Bond. The book is wonderful more for its great collection of Bond posters than for any high art book production quality (although the reproductions are fine).

Bond was my idol as a boy. This caused some problems in later life, given his unending cycle of kill a guy, save the world, screw a woman, have a drink. So I have definite mixed feelings about the character, but marvel at the whole dramatic creation of it all......

Summary: A Great Collection of James Bond posters!
Review: We are finally given a book that focuses on the art of the James Bond films. With it's extensive size and length, this is one 007 book that is sure to deliver the idea it promises. Every film from Dr. No to The World is Not Enough including Casino Royale and Never Say Never Agin are included. Each film has posters from the USA, UK and many other countries that made posters for each film. The teaser posters fro On Her Majesty's Secret Service are a real treat offering the odd, but truly inspirational 007 and Bride posters. Excitng montage art for many other film posters is included as well. Many films have unique posters for each main character in the film such as The World is Not Enough. A wonderful and new kind of 007 book thats real strength lies in the pictures and not in the text. Great for all that enjoy James Bond!

Summary: A fabulous compilation!
Review: What an amazing collection of James Bond poster artwork! I ordered this book when I saw it listed on Amazon and I prayed that it would be good, and it turned out to be FABULOUS! The poster art of the Bond movies (especially the earlier ones) is legendary, and this book has taken the most memorable Bond posters and created a fabulous keepsake. I was impressed that so many posters were included, and I especially enjoyed seeing the posters for Bond movies from around the world...it's interesting to see how different countries promote the films. (For example, in France's promo posters for "The World is Not Enough," Sophie Marceau is positioned in front of Pierce Brosnan and Denise Richards, which is different from other versions of the poster.) All in all, this is a wonderful book for Bond fans to add to their collections!

Summary: Great book! Want more!
Review: When I bought the hardcover edition of this book at a 007 collectors show, I was amazed in the size of the book. Never thought anything would top it (my opinion changed with John Cork and Bruce Scivally's James Bond Legacy). However, I am a little disappointed there aren't more pictures in this book! More posters! I have seen many 007 posters over the years and this book doesn't cover them all. I hope when they re-release the book with Die Another Day, they will ad those missing posters. Otherwise the book is great! My only complaint is it is too darn big to fit on my bookcase.
