Summary: You must buy this masterpiece of blackjack literature
Review: As a serious, if recreational, gambler, I really have to commend the writer on the best blackjack book of the modern era.

Modern blackjack doesn't really bear much resemblance to the game talked about in most blackjack books. Casinos don't use single-decks any more, and they know a great deal about card counting, which is the only way of getting an edge most books cover. "Get The Edge" is very, very different. Despite a readable, almost populist style, May has some really incredible ideas.
For example, did you ever consider that the order you throw the cards back to the dealer in could influence your post-shuffle advantage? Sound like sorcery? Maybe, but the method is substantiated with rigorous proof and explanation. These methods are'nt just the subject of pure theory and computer simulation, with many of them May shows you how they work by getting you to try them out with just a deck of cards and a kitchen table.

Where other authors don't even mention the existence of devices like the card shuffling machines commonly used nowadays May not only talks about them but uses the casinos tricks against them. Think you can't beat a continuous shuffling machine? Well, its not easy, but it is possible and May shows you how with reference to real-world casino coups and his incredible perception.

The really bad thing about this book is that May just goes too far with what he is prepared to reveal. Some of us who knew about, for example, card-steering, would prefer he'd left that one out. I made a killing with that trick over the years and publishing it can only make things more difficult for players.

Nonetheless the majority of the book is ground-breaking and innovative, in a way no blackjack book has been since the publication of Thorp's "Beat The Dealer".

Summary: A "well rouded" book... I luv it
Review: Excellent book with some "brand new" information, esp Card steering/sequencing, Internet Casinos etc.

Good summary for those who is deciding which card counting system to use.

Last but not least, chapter "blackjack and sex" is extremly interesting to read

Summary: I Liked Everything About This Book even the Foreword!
Review: I agree with just about everything Mr. Parker says in his review, except the stuff about the Foreword by Frank Scoblete. When I finished this book I was completely in agreement with the opinion that this is a blackjack nuclear bomb. May's easy style and his ability to describe difficult concepts in ways that an average reader could comprehend makes this one of the few BJ books dealing in advanced concepts that is actually accessible to a person such as myself. I have been counting cards for years and now I think I can add a few new tools to my casino-beating toolbox thanks to John May.

Summary: Thank You for this Book
Review: I just loved this book. I have been playing blackjack for 20 years and I have had a mildly successful career as a card counter for the past 12 of them. I have read all the famous authors but this book stands alone as one that gives technqiues I never even considered. I don't think the book is for everyone but motivated players will find Mr. May's advantage-play techniques to be unusual and even as the title suggests, revolutionary. I have to commend Frank Scoblete for bringing this book to the public's attention. Mr. May is a find and this book is priceless!

Summary: Get Ready Because Here I Come
Review: I read sections of this book five times and have been working on a few of Mr. May's dynamite methods. I can't wait to hit the casinos. This book was, as Tony the Tiger says GGGRRREEEAAATTTT!!

Summary: This Book is Incredible!
Review: I thought that this book would be like every other blackjack book I've read. It would promise a lot and deliver the same old stuff. I was wrong. John May has written a book that has techniques in it tht are truly revolutionary, just like the title says. I would recommend this to players who are familir with the game and not novices. This is a great book!

Summary: One of the Very Best Blackjack Books
Review: If you are an avid blackjack player you will find John May's book to be "essenttial" reading. It is the next step up. The ideas contained in this book are really revolutionary and May explains them clearly and concisely. This is a great book.

Summary: This is a Five Star Blackjack Book
Review: John May has written one of the best Bj books in years. While much of the content is new and seemingly difficult to comprehend, May does a fine job in boiling down advanced advantage-play techniques into understandable language. Luckily, May is a player and he understands what advice to give real players of the game. he thankfully does not fill up the book with endless charts and graphs to show off his genius. Instead, he explains most of the difficult concepts in clear English.

I would say that some of the techniques written about in this book would be very tough for players to use in a casino without a great deal of practice. However, some card cutting techniques I have already used and they do work!

Blackjack players who are looking to add to their bag of tricks some really great maneuvers will want to have this book in their libraries.

Summary: Really Worth Buying
Review: John May is an elite blackjack player and this book gives you information that I have not read anywhere else. While it does discuss and explain the theory of card counting, the revolutionary stuff that is advertised on the cover concerns methods of play such as glim, stacker, ace tracking and the like. Some of these are "do-able" by mere mortals like myself and some seem extremely hard to pull off.

I think the book is very well written and organized and May's writing flows. He explains very difficult concepts in a way that is understandable. I believe this is one of the top books ever written on blackjack and is definitely worth buying.
