Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: He Said, She Said Review: A terrific variation on the "he said, she said" theme told in a fresh and original manner. Thumbs up. I only have one question -- Is D.M. Roman a man or a woman?
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Self-Promotion Review: As to the people commenting on the below reviews being self-promotion, let me just say that I work in a chain-bookstore which has recently been hit by a plague of special orders for this book by a person whose address and phone number don't really exist. The book in non-returnable to the publisher, so we are stuck with it on our shelves. I'll let you try to figure out for yourself who that person might be.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Refreshinging different and a welcome break from the routine Review: Come on guys read the book first before reviewing it. The preview is typical of the whole book. It is definitely an "I can't put it down!"
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: D.M. Coke-in' Review: D.M. Roman must be on drugs. BURRRRRN BABY BUUUURRRRNNNN!!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Poignant, frightening and heartwarming all at once. Review: D.M. Roman's insight into contemperary young urban "professionals" is at once fascinating and repelling. His two characters are revealed variously as effuse, maudlin, furtive, magnanimous, nervously open, vengeful and, in the end, comfortably unimaginative. Roman's essay is chock a block with the same type of simian-like chatter disguised as conversation that we have all heard ourselves make--much to our later horror and secret embarrassment, which makes her (or his) insights all the more entertaining, valuable and personal to each reader. Thanks a-plenty to D.M. Roman for this fine and detailed reaffirmation that we are not alone.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Insightful Review: Finally, a simple and to the point book about dating. A laugh out loud book that you can't put down. The characters are funny, witty and charming. You find yourself wanting them to become a couple by the end of the date. If only all dates (or at least SOME) were this great! What a fun book. Have told all my friends about it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Delicious Treat Review: Fried Calamari is a delicious treat that unfolds the story of a first date in an all-dialogue format. I read this book twice. The first time purely for entertainment and on the second read, I tried to pick up all of the insights in the underlying subtext. On both accounts, this book came out a winner.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Snappy Read Review: Fried Calamari is a delightful little novel that reads very quickly and mimics the feeling (and time frame) of being on that all-important first date. You laugh, you cringe, you worry and you hope that your first impression is good enough to move forward. This is quite an enjoyable read and is vastly different to the spate of books for singletons out there.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Keenly Observed Review: Fried Calamari is intriguing. Acutely observed, the dialogue is certain to generate a great deal of discussion. My girlfriend and I have argued, agreed, and mostly laughed, at this book. A great choice for a book club (especially a mixed sex one), we're introducing it to ours next month.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Very Good Review: Fried Calamari is very good. I really enjoyed all of the subtle nuances of the characters. I am convinced, however, that D.M. Roman is a woman. No man could write Lisa's dialogue.
