Rating: Summary: stickin' it to "the man" Review: Anyone (and I mean ANYONE) raised in the western industrialized world of the twentieth/early twenty-first century has at some point heard the story of the three little pigs. But not everybody has heard it told like this.I love Jon Scieszka's "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs." This version is from the wolf's side of the story. And Mr. Wolf is a deliciously suspicious (if not untrustworthy) narrator. In correcting the story that we, the public, have blindly swallowed whole, Mr. Wolf has hopefully vindicated himself while doing us all a great service. This whole charade was the fault of the dull-witted, untrusting pigs. "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs" is a powerful parable about what it means to be a good or bad neighbor. If the tragedy of this story teaches us nothing else, it is at least hilariously entertaining. I give this book my full recommendation.

Rating: Summary: fun revisionist fairy tale Review: Think back. Way, way back. When you were a kid, didn't you think there was something wrong with a lot of fairy tales? What right did Jack have to take the giant's possessions? If the way was so perilous, why did Little Red Riding Hood's mother send her to grandma's house alone? And why do stepmothers and wolves get such a bad rap? Well, the truth as they say, will out. And A. Wolf has decided to tell what *really* happened between him and the three little pigs. It was all a misunderstanding, and you can read all about it in that flagship newspaper The Daily Wolf. Author Jon Scieszka has written a funny version of the famous tale that will entertain as it helps kids see another point of view and evaluate differing tales.
Rating: Summary: Love it! Review: My wife is a big collector of children's books. She has 'The Stinky Cheese Man' and several other books by the J Scieszka/L Smith duo. So when I saw this book, I had to get it. Boy, was it a good choice. I love it! Forget 'Politically Correct Fairy Tales,' THIS is the Fairy Tale book you have to get! Our friends have a 3-year-old girl who used to love the story of the three little pigs. Ever since the first time I read 'The True Story' to her, she doesn't want to hear the 'official' version. She comes over and asks for the 'Sneeze book!'
Rating: Summary: The real story Review: Everyone knows the story of the three little pigs. Or do they? The big bad wolf explains in his own words that all he wanted was sugar, never meaning to eat anyone. This hilarious story, which I find more believable than the official version, is written by Jon Scieszka and superbly illustrated by Lane Smith.
Rating: Summary: The True Story Of The 3 Little Pigs Review: This is a book the entire family can enjoy. It is completely hilarious for a children's book. You know how kids get hooked on a book and want you to read it over and over and over again? Well, this is one of those books that you HOPE they want you to read over and over and over again. It is just a lot of fun. I highly recommend the "Wolf's" side of the story about what "really" happened with the three little pigs. Adorable!
Rating: Summary: Toylina's thoughts Review: This book is a fiction book, and you might have heard a pigs tell of what happened between the pigs and the wolf but this time the wolf tells what happened. The story takes place in a small house of Mr. Alexander wolf. Then moves to three houses of brothers known as the three little pigs. In the story the wolf says he has a cold and was baking a cake for his grannys birthday when he ran out of sugar and decided to go to his neighbors ( the pigs) to borrow some sugar, but his cold makes him sneeze and the little pigs houses fall down, but the real question is will all the houses fall down? In the story you will find the wolf and the pigs are the main charactors. This book is great for children because it shows not only what's going on in the story but also the pictures, tell the story that mabe a little child would understand.
Rating: Summary: a fun book for all ages! Review: My 4 year-old daughter's preschool class read this book and she could not get enough of it, so we got a copy to see what all the fuss was about. This is a fun book and will make adults laugh, too. We read it almost every day right now and then we have to compare it to the usual tale. Share this with your preschooler or school age child--you won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Two sides to every story Review: The students in my third grade class love this story. They were very interested in finding out what the wolf's side of the story was! It is a funny way to look at the same event from two different points of view. I introduced this book as part of a newspaper mini-lesson. We talked about always finding out both sides of the stoy they are working on. My students now take this lesson to heart as they write their own newspaper articles.
