Summary: A BREATH OF FRESH AIR
Review: This book describes one of my fondest dreams come true. Ever since I was a little girl I knew there was something wrong with the way I was living; raised by my grandmother, singlehandedly, no friends, no parents, no trust, no joy, no fun. I would carefully draw plans for living in community with all the people I liked. Living quarters built in a circle or square, a common building, growing our own food, having animals to care for, etc.

This book makes me cry and laugh out loud with gratitude and joy at reading about what is so much needed in our world.

THANK YOU, PATCH ADAMS!

Summary: Should be a textbook for Health Care students.
Review: This book is a must-read for all aspiring (and current) Health Care Professionals. If you don't agree with his political views, you hafta LOVE his methods of patient relations. If all Health professionals would take his methods to heart, we could put the "care" back into healthcare.

Summary: Too ideal and unrealistic. But gives me a hope to live.
Review: To tell the truth, I was a little disappointed by the book. Before reading the book, I had a high expectancy. I wondered how the clown doctor thinks about the medicine. After reading the book, I couldn't follow his way of thinking. I thought his way of thinking was too ideal and unrealistic. He says that by not charging money he can form close relationship with patients. But I think charging money doesn't prevent us from forming close relationships between doctors and patients. He says that he worked outside jobs to practice free health care. He worked as a file clerk to earn money. I think it's awful. I think he failed to put first things first. If he has a time to work as a file clerk, he should see patients and chrge them. He says he doesn't carry malpractice insurance. I think it's too risky and foolish. He says that malpractice insurance sets up an adverce relationship with patients. I don't think so. From patients' point of view, I don't care whether the doctor carries insurance or not. From lawyer's point of view, I think it's as if walking a battlefield without a weapon. But on the other hand, I think he suggests a very important points which has forgotten in the modern medicine. If I suffer from a severe disese which wouldn't be cured by the western medicine, I would definitely consult Dr. Patch Adams. Also I want to volunteer for building Gesundheit Institute because it sounds fun and attractive for me. He gives me a hope to live.

Summary: Excellent
Review: What I believe is all professions have become stagnant over years, and held taht way by the people at the top so that they do not lose their importance... patch clearly shows the way to flush away this stale breed and introduce a new one..
