Summary: Excellent
Review: I rarely read books let alone write a review for one - but I had to in this case. This is enjoyable to read and highly informative to the ameture gambler. It would also be good for the experienced gambler that's interested in learning about other games in the casino.

If you're going gambling, buy this. It will pay for itself in the first 15 minutes.

Summary: the best book ever on gambling
Review: I read so many gambling strategy books, and many of them are full of baloney. This is the only one you need to get all of the mathematically best strategies for any casino game, and which games to avoid at all costs (which is most of them!)

After owning this book, I can now give the other 30 gambling books I own to charity, this is the only one you need to cut through all the BS in the gaming world, it is comprehensive!

Also, the reader that thought this book has a Mensa attitude is hallucinating, this author strikes me as humble & shrewd!

Summary: very helpful
Review: It avoids getting too technical with odds and probablilities. Although, it does touch on mathematical stuff, which can be skipped for the laymen. It is highly recommended if you're going to Vegas, the reason I got it. I have improved my poker skills since reading it. It's written for the average person who wants to improve their odds before going to Vegas. It covers a great selection of games, too. Even the new ones like Pai Gow Poker and Caribean Stud.

Summary: Awesome.
Review: The blackjack section is very thorough, as is the whole book. A must read for the casual gambler as well as the seasoned veteran. At a recent trip to Atlantic City I was amazed at the dealers giving advice against blackjack basic strategy. Even dealers don't know how to play blackjack properly. I espcially liked the section on blackjack that shows you what it costs when you bet wrong over the long run.

Summary: Bucks the Conventional Gambling Books' Wisdom
Review: This book contains a lot of useful information the likes of which you won't find anywhere else. Of course, it talks about probabilities, the house edge, and so on. (What would you expect from a high IQ writer?) However, the book is loaded with common sense. For example, most video poker book authors tell you that you should always play max coins. Brisman gives you pause for thought: If you're playing a game with less than 100% return, you're just going to lose five times as fast (almost) if you play five coins instead of one. Unless you're playing a positive expectation video poker game--e.g., full-pay deuces wild--you may want to simply play slower and enjoy the fun. Not a very popular idea for the high roller, but solid common sense for the recreational player.

Appendix A contains a "Master Chart of All Casino Bets". It shows the house edge on virtually every bet in the casino and how it compares to the others. It is a real eye-opener. It alone is worth the price of the book.

There are other books that are good for the fine points of specific games. This book probably ranks within the top five best guides to overall casino play. If you're going to buy one book on gambling, this one is an excellent choice.

Summary: Review
Review: This book gave good details into wagering online, however, I found that it lacked the details of a truely great betting book. It's a little thin on the online world of betting.

Summary: Doesn't insult your intelligence
Review: This book is very straightforward in that it tells you what the odds are on various games at the casino. It doesn't insult your intelligence by telling you that you can come up with a strategy to put the odds in your favor with a couple of exceptions that you must work very hard at to be successful. The two exceptions are blackjack with card counting and video poker with the optimal payoff machines.

It does tell you the best games and the best strategies in those games to minimize the disadvantage that you have against the casino. No matter what you are still at a disadvantage! Other books with titles implying that their strategies will help you beat the casino are all bogus. Remember, cities like Las Vegas and Atlantic city were not built based upon patrons leaving with more than they came.

Summary: A very interesting book speaking from a casual gamer
Review: This book really breaks down the games and is written in an easy to understand method. It's chock full of interesting facts. I am a casual player (I give money to Atlantic City 4-5 times per year!) but I love to read the ins/outs of the games and statistical odds. It seems that whether you are a seasoned veteran at the casinos or a newcomer--this book will help your odds tremendously and just plain entertain you!!
