Annie Warbucks: Vocal Selections

Summary: Excellent Musical: Americana Music, Vocally Challenging
Review: Annie Warbucks is an excellent musical, with a LOT of well-written songs. Unfortunately, it struggled during its original release (number of factors, when you read the history). But how many legendary MUSICALS have had a successful sequel? The songs are fun, with some challenging harmonies ("Somebody's Got to Do Something") and rhythms ("When You Smile, I Smile"). Definitely try to find the CD (out of print, but keep looking... it's around); it is a wonderful cast recording, with much of the story dialog intact on the recording to get the gist of the story.

Review: Hmmm. I don't think that this book is as good as the original Annie. There is a couple of nice songs in it, my favorite being "I Always Knew". I would reccomend buying this book only if there is a certain song in it that you want, as most are unfamiliar and not good audition choices.

Review: Let me just start by saying that this show is far, far better than the original, which I can't stand. However, I *love* this one! I was in it in the seventh grade, and the songs have stuck with me ever since. They're catchy, boucny, and overall, beautiful. If you go for a weepy ballad, then you'll love It Would Have Been Wonderful (possibly the best song to come out of this musical). Other great picks are Leave it to the Girls, and Above the Law, which unfortunately is not included here. The sheet music can't possibly compare with the actual CD (hard to find, but possible), but it will do for now. :-)
