Summary: Scholarly work beginning to show its age
Review: Jean Langlais was an organist and composer of immense talent and variety. Kathleen Thomerson does a credible job of indexing his numerous compositions, and of placing them in their proper historical context. Unfortunately for this book, the widow of Jean Langlais is in the process of renumbering his works chronology; the new catalog numbering is not yet reflected here.

Yet as a former student of Langlais, Thomerson writes with authority and sensitivity on this great master. As a former student of Thomerson at SIUE, I treasure the copy presented to me at my degree recital, and recommend it and her to every serious student and researcher.
