Summary: Book for Winners Only!!
Review: This book should be how to develop self esteem. It is totally an awesome book. I have played for many years, and been through tons of partners. After I read HOW NOT TO LOSE AT SPADES, I have several players that we team together on a regular basis. (a couple I had played with before saw what happened to my game and ordered their own book! Is that testimony or what??) I am enjoying the time I spend playing spades so much more. I am one that used to "play my hand", as is the most popular choice. Just not the smartest. Now I love for my opponents to "play their hand" while I win the Game!
Great job Mr. Strichman!!

Summary: SUPER SPADES STRATEGY
Review: How Not To Lose At Spades covers it all!! Like a good movie, after you read it you want to find someone else who has so you can discuss what the book adds to your game! The strategy in this book explained HOW TO BID, when to play AGGRESSIVELY, when to PULL TRUMP and how TO BID on that LAST HAND!! Before I learned Galt's techniques, I crossed by fingers before games against certain opps, afterward.. I searched them out! IF you really enjoy spades, this book is a MUST read!! Thanks Galt!!
Great job!!

Summary: I love logic problems and this book has lots of them.
Review: The author says that it is not only the cards in your hand that determines your bid. He then goes on to prove it by showing a number of hands. For each of those hands he explains how the bid would be different in four different situations, i.e., depending on the bags, the bids by the other players, the score, whether its end game, etc. The explanations and the logic are very clear.

The book makes you think. It brought out many ideas I had not thought of. I love to read about spades almost as much as play it, and this book was really enjoyable.

Summary: My game just keeps getting better
Review: As I incorporate the technigues outlined in JohnGalt's book into my game, my playing keeps getting better and better; my rating has increased almost 200 points on the MSN gaming zone; and, I enjoy playing the game so much more. When I recognize mistakes being made by the opponents that JohnGalt says to avoid, I get a psychological advantage and an increased confidence that my partner and I will be winning more games than we will lose. Well worth the money if you are or want to be a serious player.

Summary: Galt wrote the textbook on Spades
Review: I've been playing spades over 14 years. I have won many live and online competition and playing in many professional tournaments. I also teach spades to intermediate players looking to become advanced players. I reccomend this book to all of them. It is an excellent source to the knowledge of the strategical and logical approaches to the game. The strategies he covers are widely used by advanced players and his sections on last hand bidding are the best I've ever seen in print. It is a great stepping stone and guide from begining spading to advanced spading. The greatest thing about Galt's book is that they way it is written, it brings intermediate players up to speed on what they should be doing; then opens the door to a world of endless strategies and improvement in ones game.

The Author asks what you think you bid should be on the examples and then tells you what the best bid would be and why. I have won many spades tournements and this book helped me alot. If your learning or an excellent spades player, this book is a must!
