Review: JohnGalt Strichman's "How Not to Lose at Spades," is a "must read" for all serious Spade players. I have been playing Spades for 1 year. Six months ago I started studying "How Not to Lose at Spades" my game has wonderfully improved. Me a rookie defeating 15 year old or more veterans on a regular basis! Since I have learned the definitions and terms of various plays, I feel comfortable and confident when I sit at a game table. Knowing the many nuances and subtlties of winning and how to accomplish them makes a difference in your victories. The book is a winner! Read it and become a winner too!

Summary: A Must Have for ALL Spades Players!!
Review: I thought I played a pretty good game of spades... and did pretty well at the game... then I got this book and WOW... What a difference it made in my wins and losses!!!It makes you look at the game in a whole new manner and everyone has noticed my game improve... they all say... What would of made you bid nil with that hand? I smile and say... its all thanks to JohnGalt Strichman. I was truly surprised at the ease of reading and examples of different situations and what to bid and why. The author did a wonderful job in explaining the game in terms anyone can understand... even "newbies" to the game. However for this book to help those of us who already "thought" we knew the game... well what can I say... I learned "HOW NOT TO LOSE AT SPADES" I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in losing less and winning more :)

Jack has completely revised and updated his Original work. There is lots of new material here. Your game will get better. Dont waste your time reading those two gigantic Spades Books with more than 700 pages of junk! Get the Real Deal! Get Galt's New Book! - AND GET BETTER AT SPADES...

Summary: A Spade Players Bible!!!
Review: I have always played card games such as, hearts, spades, rook, pitch, rummy and so forth. I considered myself a very experienced player. However, until I read "How Not To Lose At Spades" I truly didn't know as much as I thought! This book gave me the insight to look ahead at the entire game, not just that hand. I also learned that "bidding my hand" wasn't necessarily the best option... and I was truly losing more spades games than I should have been losing. I have learned so much from this book, I keep rereading it and I learn more every time. This is truly my "Bible" to spades. JohnGalt Strichman's time and efforts are shown throughout the writings as it is written in terms that are easily understood and also keeps you wanting more and more information. My daughter who is ten years old enjoys this book because it has humor along with a lesson. Thanks Galt for your wonderful expertise! If you are considering buying this book, it will definately be one that will not collect dust!

Summary: How Not To Lose At Spades
Review: There are two kinds of spade players, those that take it seriously, and those that play the game for relaxation. Galt has somehow managed to capture the attention of both, because of its detailed explanations and indepth study of the game, while doing so with humor and a style that makes you refer back to it time and time again. It has quickly come to be known as the "Spaders Bible", because time and time again, its' recomendations have proven to be as accurate as its religious counterpart that was afore mentioned. My personal experience has been that i am actually winning 4 or 5 times the amount of tournaments per month after reading and applying Galts stradegy then when i was playing on pure gut and instinct. If you are a good to average spade player that wants to improve your game, by understanding the science of how and why you should or should not play a certain way, then the book for you is "How Not To Lose At Spades". It transformed me from someone averageing maybe two tournaments wins a month to the finals of the "Zone Club Challenge", and there is where you meet the best of the best.

Review: I used to see the book "HOW NOT TO LOOSE AT SPADES" all over the internet. but i always thought that i knew the game of Spades as well or better than the next guy. so one day i decided to purchase it just to see what was in it on account i love the game of Spades. I found it to be one of the best books that i have ever read. I was amazed at the things i learned from reading the book. i actually found myself useing strategies and reading the cards being played instead of just thinking i knew what i was doing. So when i found out there was a second edition comeing out, i purchased it right away. and well and behold. John Galt went far and behond the first edition which i thought could not be done. I highley recomend that if you enjoy the game of Spades as much as i do or are new to the game rather it be on the MSN Zone or wherever you play, is to buy it and enjoy learning things you might not ever thoght about while playing Spades. Hats off to you Galt, a very wonderfull job. i have learned a great deal from you!

Review: There aren't too many books written about the game. Mr. Strichman has made very simple what takes years to learn.
He is an avid player and tournament winner. As a bonus, it's written in fonts where a person dosen't have to squint to read it, the sight impaired will enjoy this. The book will make a beginner a good player rather quickly, an advanced player, an excellent player. Anyone who reads it will surely benefit from it.

Review: I'm not too sure how to review this book. On the one hand it's a very nice easy read for a relaxing day. It also offers some useful strategy tips. On the other hand, the book is too general. It tries to generalize aspects of the game that shouldn't be generalized. In summary, this is a good book if you are hoping to improve your game with a nice easy-to-read connect-the-dots book. On the other hand, if you're looking for a book that acts as a college-level reading reference guide, you won't be satiated. This book should be sufficient for 95% of all players.
