Rating: Summary: Coffee-table book lives up to the movie itself. Review: "James Cameron's Titanic" helps to show why this movie is indeed an epic work. Movie buffs and Titanic-ophiles alike will enjoy the behind-the-scenes look at the sets, stars, and the ship herself. Inside information about the production process (such as the fact that the whole boarding scene in Southampton was shot "backwards"), evokes admiraton for Cameron's achievement. The text underscores the film's committment to bring the humanity of the sinking home to the audience -- a committment that the film honors. The determination to make the film something special comes through with comments from stars DiCaprio, and Winslet. Like the movie itself, the book is highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: A visually stimulating book well written, & presented Review: James Cameron's Titanic is a beautiful coffee table book filled with wonderful text on not only the history of the R.M.S Titanic, but also on the way he recreated the magic of this beautiful legend. Photographs taken by Douglas Kirkland are fantastic, he shows us that not only was it hard work putting this Motion Picture together, but that it was also alot of fun! I rate this book a 10 out of 10, for Titanic buffs "a must have!"
Rating: Summary: A haunting tale of love, and the price of vanity Review: A stunning, stunning film, and one that deserves a "behind the scenes look". Although we know that the romance between Jack and Rose will end in tragedy, the feeling we experience when Jack takes Rose to the stern of the ship, has her spread her arms and "open her eyes" to the possibilities of free-thinking and independence, is both visually and emotionally stunning. As the sun sinks on the Titanic for the last time, and the ship (with the couple's love) steams into eternity, the feeling experienced is one of hope and futility;if only the vanity of the society that built the ship (and the majority of its passengers) could experience the same moment! Cameron's implication that love sinks the ship (i.e. the night watchman are too busy watching Jack and Rose embrace, instead of looking for dangers ahead) is both tragically poetic and pathetic. Jack and Rose become the unwilling saviours of an era, but at the highest price. Let us hope our own world--one filled with so many technological wonders--breeds not our own "Titanic," but rather compassion and understanding.
Rating: Summary: Love is too strong to end. Well spoken in this story. Review: I felt the love from these two people. It was everlasting. I too have memories of a lost love. I would hate to have to wait until I die to see him again.
A magical book and movie.
Rating: Summary: This book is jammed pack with tons of information. Review: I think that this book was very well put together. It was filled with behind the scence pictures and information. It explainded the process of making the movie "Titanic," and how much hard work was put into it. The people that had to put every thing together are very talented and I admire them a great deal. The book includes many pictures of the set of Titanic and it's cast and crew. It looks very tiring to have to do all that work that is shown in the photos. It also includes some interesting quotes from Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio on their thoughts about the movie, and the real Titanic. If you saw the movie and really enjoyed it, I think that this is a great book to look at after. After you read this book you can understand the real effort that goes into making movies, especially this one.
Rating: Summary: Just Had To See It Again Review: This movie was really a breath taker! I saw it for the first time last week and I just had to go see it again. I think two times is enough until it comes out on video, but it is a must see! The ship looks so real, i'd like to see where I can find a "behind the scenes" website. If you know of such, please let me know. Once again, I suggest you go see it if you haven't!
Rating: Summary: pensive.. yet unsure Review: I loved the movie, it actually made me cry, to realize what had happened to true love. I am just trying to figure out if Rose, and Jack really did exist.. I doubt that the story is true, but if this love story isn't fiction I am quite fascinated with this. If it is fiction, I suppose that I'll be somewhat dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: 50 THUMBS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I LOVED THE BOOK AND THE MOVIE! NOW I'M COLLECTING TITANIC STUFF. SOUNDTRACK, BOOK, VIDEO (WHEN IT COMES OUT), YOU NAME IT, I'VE GOT IT (OR GOING TO GET IT). READ THIS BOOK, I KNOW YOU'LL LOVE IT.
Rating: Summary: The book is just as amazing as the movie Review: I read the book a couple of days before I saw the film, I knew what to expect from it, but the book has the most amazing and captavating photography, it gives you a detailded descripion of the making of the film, all the special efects, behind the scenes stories and the James Cameron's trips to the real Titanic. I would recomend this book to anyone that is a fan of the movie, the actors and the director, and to everyone else, it is a wonderfull gift and a great memoar of one of the best film ever made. I would just like to add, I congradulate James Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Wislet, the photographer and the writer of this book, and to everyone else that contibuted to the book and the film.
Rating: Summary: A powerful, and encitful preview to the movie "Titanic". Review: Having seen the movie before purchasing the book, we we're content with the book as a whole, and the insite to the making of the movie was especially helpful as well. The pictures give us a doorway into the eyes of the unique story setup thru James Cameron's vision of Titanic. With so many various pictures, you really feel how these people (especially Rose and Jack Dawson) must have felt in this particular dilemna. The text gives you information on the pictures discribing the movie and real survivors of the Titanic.
Overall the book demonstrates an incredible summary on the tragedy of the Titanic using two main characters, Rose and Jack even though they are fictional.
