Rating: Summary: The best ever Review: I just wanted to say that I am so happy that James Cameron went through with making Titanic and wrote the book. I have not bought it yet though because all the bookstores in my area are sold out. I don't think that this movie would have been such a hit if any other director directed it or if the roles were played by any other actors. This movie made me laugh and made me cry. Oh did it ever make me cry. I am happy for James and the actors(especially Leonardo DiCaprio) that this movie is such a success. I am also now sorry for all the victims of this tragic thing. I now have a lot more respect for the Titanic and I think that the researchers should leave the resting spots of 1,500 people alone. Again I want to say thank you to James Cameron for writing this book and directing this wonderful yet heart-wrenching movie.
Rating: Summary: Making It Count!!! Review: I ordered this book and I was not sure what to expect, I just knew it was about Titanic and I had to have it! I received the book 2 weeks later and I was in awe! This book is excellent, and definite buy for Titanic lovers! I've seen the movie 6 times so far. It was the best movie I've ever seen, James Cameron made this movie in a way that made you feel that you were part of it. You could actually feel the despare and panic these people were feeling. I don't think I've ever cried so much in my entire life. Leonard DeCaprio and Kate Winslet were excellent in this movie. I feel in love with them and the love that they shared. The ending truly broke my heart! This is definitely a must see!! Please feel free to email me if you'd like to talk further about Titanic!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful movie companion! Review: "James Cameron's Titanic" has a little something for all different sets of movie fans. There's an incredible amount of photos and captures from the movie which will no doubt be scanned and posted on the net by hundreds of the movie's teenage fans (and those sites DO exist), while the way in which the making of the film is presented in words and behind-the-scenes photographs will surely please film students and buffs. The detail payed to the execution of the material is as meticulous and praise-worthy as the movie itself. This is a must-have for any fan of the movie, offering more than you could ask for for a movie that gives you everything you want from it.
Rating: Summary: Delicious Softcover Testament to the year's biggest film Review: Despite the inevitable critical slashing a film this big recieves, TITANIC is a wonderful film. A magnificent piece of entertainment. The book JAMES CAMERON'S TITANIC is a glorious testament to the soaring movie. The layout of the book is generally from pre-production then running through the whole shoot and post-production, with a focus on chronological presentation of the movie's images. Which, incidently, contain some absolutely stunning stills which are as exciting to look at as the actual film. The behind-the-scenes story telling is purposeful and rich with fascinating insight, laced with several hundred gloriously high quality pictures. There is elements which may annoy the cynics, like James Cameron's pre-chapter voicings of his moral and artistic aims for the film. But that doesn't matter, his words aren't nearly as pretentious as you may expect. JAMES CAMERON'S TITANIC is a delightfully entertaining and satisfyingly authentic supplement to this mega-film. Buy it, keep it in good condition, and rather than watch TITANIC on VHS ten tousand times, pull this book down now and then to remind yourself just what a great film it is.
Rating: Summary: What a great tribute!!! Review: This book is a reminder of the sacrifices it took to make the movie and of the movie itself. I have always felt a certain soul connection to the Titanic and its real life tragedy, as much as an outsider can. When I look through the book I am reminded of the many layers of "Titanic". Just as I am reminded of the whole experience of watching the movie... the roller coaster of emotions I felt as I sat back in my warm, dry, and safe seat in the darkness of the theater. What made the whole ordeal so much more compelling to me as I watched it was knowing that the film wasn't some fictional piece of work Cameron grabbed from thin air, but rather that the ship Titanic was real and that the tragedy aboard it was real, that over 1500 people-woman, chilren and men-lost their lives and loves. The movie opened my eyes and my heart so much further than expected in historical and personal ways. For example: through the fictional, yet very real on screen love story of Rose and Jack we were all allowed to enter into all the other true life non-fictional love stories and losses of loves on the Titanic. For two weeks solid "Titanic" haunted my mind and invaded my psyche and heart completely. Now the book acts as a reminder of my own personal awakenings. Just thinking of any given part of the tragedy fictional and non-fictional brought/brings me to tears. I can see the old couple, the "lower class" mother in bed with her two children, the countless frozen bodies bobbing in the ocean, and the mother frozen with her baby in arms. As I can still see Jack as Rose pries his hands from her own, releasing him to the sea as he slips under the blanket of icey cold water into the very depths of the heart of ocean. Roses decision to not give up was a difficult one for her, but as long as she lived so did Jack deep in her heart. To watch Rose at 100 years or so old stand on the edge of the ship and drop "The Heart of the Ocean" into the heart of the ocean, represented Roses and Jacks love story coming full circle. She indeed did live to be an old woman who had pursued positive adventures as shown in her pictures and indeed she did die an old woman warm in a bed that night (as Jack had said/made her promise she would) and finally Rose indeed was with Jack once again, this time Eternally. To know such love most people only dream of. Yet, I believe that we are each capable of creating our own form of pure love to some degree or another for ourselves. So many scenes stick in my mind, fictional or not. I have a renewed awakening to the souls that in real life lost their lives on the Titanic and to what Rose and Jack represent. We each have a story, our own loves and loses of loves. How nice that once in a while someone like James Cameron uses their skills to bring a good offering to the public. Whether "Titanic" is seen and accepted for just itself, an overwhelming piece of tragic history, or it is seen as "just" a place and time for an amazing love story to unfold, it is a true gift to us all. Personally, I remember holding my huband's hand and feeling a renewed love and desire to have a better marriage, family and life. We both walked out into the daylight hand and hand with one thing on our mind, our 17 month old son being watched by my father. All we wanted right then was to hold our son and to love him as deeply as we could for as long as we have on this Earth and then some. Each day truly is a blessing and a gift. We are each significant no matter what class of "deck" we sleep on. We each can bring something wonderful to this world if we choose and when we leave it sooner or later, our passings are grieved to one extent or another by someone. Life truly isn't about riches of wealth, but rather riches of the heart. May we all live and love fuller and better. What a great tribute-the making of the movie as shown in the book-to the lives that were lost and to those who were forever changed that day, and to love and life in general.
Rating: Summary: The Expedition Review: It had been quite some time since I last saw the movie. Aftter watching director James Cameron's Titanic on DVD recently, I was amazed at how much I enjoyed the film, the sappy love story notwithstanding. I am suprised that, even though the DVD has been out for quite a few years, as popular as it is/was--There are no "real" extras on the disc. Always wanting to learn how they movies are made, I decided to revist this book, to find out how they made "Ship of Dreams" come alive. It is clear from the start, reading Cameron's foreward, that he had a true passion for the story of Titanic. This feeling obviously lives on today, with the release of his IMAX documentary, Ghosts Of The Abyss. Writer Ed W. Marsh was given the task of chronicling the making of the film. From Cameron's first trips to the wreakage, through the planning, filmming, and post production, it's a fairly good read. Key cast and crew are interviewed, the sinking of the ship, which happens over the course of almost the entire second half of the film, is expained in detail. The real strenth of the book though, lies in the towering photography of Doug Kirkland. The 192 page book is as much a pictorial about the making of Titanic, as it is anything else. The book is recomended, especially, since the DVD lacks any extras, or for any die hard fan, who doesn't already own it

Rating: Summary: Great For Titanic Buffs! Review: This book is absolutely beautiful! The photography is amazing and the book is very informative as well. A must for any fan of this classic film.
Rating: Summary: Dazzling Review: As a filmmaker, this book provided me with great insights on the making of one of the most seen films of all times. It's awesome for filmmakers as well as regular audience. It will blow you away. You will see the film under a different light.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Photography! Review: This book has excellent photography of many scenes from the movie. It explains all the measures of making the movie from costumes to digital effects. It shows every character and their part in the film. The shots of the replica of the Titanic are very nice. It tells you how they built and designed the ship. It's like the Behind the Scenes of Titanic except it's in a book and you don't have to tape it. I enjoyed reading about how they made the computer extras. They look very real. I recommend this book to any Titanic fan or photographer.
