Rating: Summary: This book was nonstop action Review: This book was great.I can't understand how anyone would not like it. It tells the truth behind a record company where in public, everyone was smiling-- but behind closed doors, it was horror. This author's book kept me up all night- I could not stop turning pages. His descriptions of the street gangs right outside my window were frighteningly correct. He's the only "rap writer" to get the story right.
Rating: Summary: umm Review: This book was soo interesting. i went through it in a night which is kinda a record for me. The like format of the writing was a bit hard to get into but after your used to the format it is fascinating. i , myself am not a fan of gangsta rap really but i enjoyed it anyway. the fact tupac used to be a ballet dancer really amuses me. i wonder what suge night thinks of this book. and now that he was released i wonder whose arse he is after.
Rating: Summary: The book focuses on Death Row and Suge, the label's CEO. Review: This was a great book. I had higher hopes though. It focused more on Death Row and Suge, than any other rapper. Do NOT get this just to read about Pac, youll be dissappointed. It has tons of great rumors about Suge's lifestyle. And tells alot of history about other rappers in DR. ----PEACE
Rating: Summary: Major disappointment Review: What should have been a fascinating book, at the very least as a voyeuristic experience, fails to deliver largely due to its poorly written pages. The text stumbles along from incomprehensible link to allusive derailment, making the mistake of huge chunks of repetitive material which inevitably detract from the fascinating subject matter. Perhaps more of an editng disaster than an author's failure.....at the heart of which lies a story deserving a more coherent telling.
Rating: Summary: A Poor Attempt at Journalism Review: What should have been a tremendous book about the astonishing rise and fall of Death Row, ended up being nothing more than heresay and curse words. How on earth anyone could like Mr. Ro's writing style is totally beyond me - maybe it works in magazines - but clearly not in a 300 page book. He jumps from topic to topic, he introduces WAY too many characters with barely any flow at all and most of his info is either taken from sources who refuse to be identified or from other prewritten accounts. He repeats himself in at least 15% of the book. I had really high expectations on this book - and it fell flat on it's face. Out of the 50 or so business books I've read over the years - this one rates dead last. If you've followed Death Row over the years - you've already read at least half of this book.........

Rating: Summary: Real, a must for any rap fan Review: When I first heard about this book last year it was much hyped and anticipated. Then when I got the book last christmas I knew why. Once I had started reading I could not put it down. It goes into much detail about Suge Knight and his role at the label, how he ran it and how he always got what he wanted. Also it tells you about the gang lifestyle Suge and his artists, including Tupac Shakur, seemed to be living daily. A brilliant account of a bad lifestyle.
Rating: Summary: Ronin Ro's the best and we all know it Review: Yo, I wanna say I disagree with all these chumps taking potshots at Ronin ro. I been reading a lot of books about Tupac and Death Row and it seems like they all written by friends of theirs. Ronin Ro's book caught my eye because he definitely let both sides speak: those who rolled with death Row and those who hated them. he told a good story and made it seem like I was watching a nice three-hour gangster movie. Props to Ronin ro for bringing some real news and taking music writing to a level its never been before. this is the best book about black music of all time.
