Summary: The "Real" Elvis Presley
Review: I recently received the original 1985 hardcover edition of "ELVIS and ME" by Priscilla Beaulieu - Presley with Sandra Harmon. After reading it, I got a clearer picture of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Beaulieu - Presley's personal lives, both together and apart. I was impressed at how well and realistically Priscilla captured a period of 21 years; starting in 1956, when Priscilla received the very first Elvis Presley record, and ending with Elvis' funeral in 1977. We read about the first time Elvis and Priscilla met in 1959, the problems her relationship with Elvis caused between her family and her, and her leaving her family in Germany in 1963 and moving to Memphis. Because of her youth, Elvis molded her according to his opinions, his tastes and basically taught her how to live. I got attached to both Elvis and Priscilla, imagining their wedding in 1967, the birth of their only daughter in 1968, feeling happy for them. I felt sorry for them when they got divorced in 1973, after a difficult period in their marriage, and cried when Elvis died in 1977. An easy read, but ideal for all Elvis admirers and fans who want to find out more about Elvis the man - and not just the image he tried to live up to...

Summary: "Truth or Lies".....you decide....
Review: I started this book and I have to admitt, I read it in one day....It was very intersting however I don't think it was very factual....If you get this book be sure and get "Child Bride" as well, and compare....It is entertaining that's for sure! I love Elvis Presley...My mom was at his concert when she started having contractions with me...He is a heart throb and a very intersting man. This book I am sure has some truth to the legend, Elvis Presley's life and the things that went on during his time here, but lil Mrs. Priscilla is not as innocent as she tries to say in her book...Just look at her past reviews, the "seductive" pictures she has posed oh so many times in...She is a good story teller though. She tells it like she is a victim. You will see reading this book that in her own words she was very into Elvis, and VERY controlling and jealous....I say read this book...but get "Child Bride" as well...

Summary: Great Book!
Review: I thought this book was great! I read it when I was 11 and just recently now and I am 16. I found the book great for Elvis fans to get to know him better. I like the book so much that I've let my friends read it, I would suggest this book to anyone!

Summary: Junk and Slanted Opinions
Review: I've read this book and have seen the movie. Believe me, if you get a chance, read "Child Bride" a fantastic book that will clear up all the pretentiousness of this writing, for it appears that Priscilla has written what she wants everyone to believe. Perhaps she believes her made up stories herself by now. Don't bother wasting your money.

Summary: The REAL Elvis and Priscilla
Review: I've read this book twice now. I enjoy it because Priscilla's writing style is easy to read and easy to follow. She makes it easy for the average reader to understand how she became part of Elvis's life, and how his strange life-style became the norm for her.

The book does not come across as Elvis-bashing, in my opinion. She conveys that she loved him very much, but when he began abusing drugs, she simply could not stand by and watch him kill himself.

If you want to know more about Elvis's "secret" life off-stage and away from the cameras, this is the book to read. It's not at all "tabloid-ish" it appears to be just the facts as Priscilla lived and experienced them.

My Uncle is in them all. Ive only met him once, When my Grandmother died. He is my Dads brother. This book is good but if you want the TRUE story read Child Bride.

Summary: From the inside looking out
Review: Ive been a fan of Elvis since I was about 8 years old. I distinctly remember the day when he died in 1977 when I was 11 years old. There are so many books out there on the subject of Elvis Presley, his Memphis Mafia, his relationship with his parents, his marriage to Priscilla and many more aspects of his life. However, this book is a labor of love. You can only imagine (as many of us have) to have this great man become interested in you when you are still a child in search of yourself. Priscilla takes us through their life together and how time and maturity changes the dynamics of their relationship. But not their love for each other. The reason I take this book at such face value is that Priscilla has never done or said anything to harm the mystique of Elvis Presley. As in any marriage, Im sure there are things that the reader is better off not knowing. But she tells her story with the same love and respect for this man that so changed her life.
