Rating: Summary: Perfect for Pianists and Singers Who Love Latin Music Review: 'Big Book of Latin American Songs' is not the most elegant sounding book title but the title certainly does do the book justice. There are a lot! of song and instrumental gems in here from staples such as 'The Girl From Ipanema', 'La Cumparsita', and 'Guantanamera' to personal favourites 'Tico Tico No Fuba', 'Mama Inez', and 'Quando, Quando, Quando' to name a very few. From beginning to end, each piece is a winner; it's great fun to play each both solo and accompanying singers. In fact, I have on occasion played through the entire book without exhaustion. As near as I can tell, the pieces in this compilation are in their standard arrangements many of which have previously appeared in earlier publications. Nothing fancy, just clear, clean arrangements (I'll note here that they are mostly geared to intermediate pianists and above). I have yet to find another book of Latin American songs that approaches much less surpasses the 'Big Book of Latin American Songs' in terms of breadth and song selection.
