Summary: Excellent description of how music therapy is practiced
Review: This book is a great resource for anyone with an interest in music therapy.
I am a music therapist, practicing now for about 6 years. I often refer to this book for new ideas for my practice. I also loan this book to any friend or colleague who really wants to know what music therapy is about.
The introduction itself is probably the best and most concise description of music therapy practice.
The case studies have been chosen for quality, depth, and maximum variety of technique and philosophy. One appendix contains an index which refers to the case studies by philosophical orientation, which I found both fascinating and useful.
The only possible change I might suggest would be to refer to page number rather than "case study number" in the index, which is a little confusing.
In all, a great reference and a fascinating, enlightening read. This book is one of the prizes of my bookshelf.
