Rating: Summary: AALIYAH MORE THAN A WOMAN Review: I LOVE THE FACT THAT THERE WAS A WHOLE BOOK ON AALIYAH, BUT WHEN I READ IT I WAS DISAPPOINTED. THE AUTHOR TALKED OFF FOCUS ON AND ON ABOUT OTHER MUSICIANS. I THINK THIS BOOK WAS ABOUT MUSIC IN GENERAL, WITH A LITTLE SECTION IN THE BACK ABOUT AALIYAH. AALIYAH IS BEAUTIFUL!
Rating: Summary: It was Ok Review: The book was okay but I did not like the author's style. It seemed like he was more intrested with other people more than Aaliyah. Aaliyah was an angel and desrves to have the whole book to herslf, or at least most of it. Not half of it to D Angelo or to Gladys Knight or to Kurt Cobain. I think it would have been much much better if he didnt keep on going on and on about other people and focused more on Aaliyah. It got to the point that I could turn to the next 5 or 6 pages and he would still be talking about someone else (not Aaliyah). Overall, I thought the book was alright, but the author needs to focus more on who's on the cover more than anyone else.
Rating: Summary: Comprehensive but basic Review: This was a great book, it was very comprehensive. But for the die hard fan it doesn't really fill in any gaps. If you followed Aaliyah's life like I did you will feel like you could have written this book yourself. The person who didn't really know all that much about her before her rise and tragic death will be in for a treat.
Rating: Summary: Truly more than a woman Review: This book touched me deeply with every word I read. Being that I am a huge fan of Aaliyah and will continue to be even after her tragic death. The book showed me things I never knew and it brought me to tears after I read it the first time. The book has great comparisons and it does a good job explaing things and really showing her life the way she was more than a woman.
Rating: Summary: Our passion for music Review: I thought the book was great. Not only was the book about Aaliyah, but it was also about September 11, 2001, about other famous people who died. And we all know that Aaliyah would haved cared about everthing that is going on. In present and in past. This book is the greatest, when I fisrt got the book I couldn't put it down. We Love and Miss You Aaliyah. May God Bless Aaliyah's family.
Rating: Summary: wonderfull book about a wonderful star Review: I think all r&b music fans can agree that aaliyahs death was a tradegy. She will be greatly missed. It was obvious there would be plenty of tributes and books for her. The first and best aaliyah book is More than a woman by Christopher John Farley. Wonderfully written and put together. Great pictures too. Only thing is the cursing here and there not a major problem but MF word comes up a few times. But simply a fantastic book. I learned some things i never knew. You will basicly learn about her life her music movies friends family and even about the music industry in general. The perfect book for the ultimate aaliyah fan.RIP
Rating: Summary: More Than a Woman, not at all trite...but very accurate! Review: I am a huge Aaliyah fan, and I must say that I approached this book with a high degree of trepidation. I was very skeptical that something so hastily produced could be at all well written or be accurate. Gladly I was proven wrong. This book offers a moving, dignified tribute to the woman who helped change the course of modern urban music, the budding actress who was about to take the world by storm, and the dancer who was going to demolish concert arenas world wide. Christopher Farley composed this elegant tribute to Aaliyah. It's well written and fact based and offers new information about the singer that even some of us longtime fans did not know about her. Unlike the recent video which hailed itself as a tribute (Losing Aaliyah) this book is worth taking the time to read. It presents a beautiful picture of Aaliyah...a woman that some did not realize was an angel until she actually became one. R.I.P Aaliyah 1979~2001
Rating: Summary: solid Read Review: it's cool that Christopher John Farley did this book.I've read His Work in Time Magazine&He is a Cool Writer.Aaliyah was something else. She was One of those People that Had that "IT".I think She&2Pac in the last 10 years had that kind of It that you can't teach.I didn't think He was a Great Rapper&I didn't find Her to Be a Great Singer but there Overall Presentation took things to a whole different level&you couldn't ignore how they vibed. Both to Me were Meant for the Big Screen.Aaliyah did so much from her time Here on earth.Music,Movies,Modeling&just being a Down Home kind of FOlk.CLassy&Yet Challenging.easy to Reach but also a Mystery. She was something else&Very Beautiful as a Person&The Vibe She Gave Off.R.I.P
Rating: Summary: The best book ever Review: This book was amzing. It changed my life. When I first heared Aaliyah's voice I said to my self she is going to be a star.Even though I am only 13, I bought all three of her CD's twice. My favorite CD that she recorded would have to be her first one "Age Ani't Notin' But A Number" because I can relate to every song on that album.Just like I have A 14 yer old girl friend my mom and her dad are trying to keep us apart. But all age is , is a number.
