Summary: Please stop Jewel
Review: This woman is going to destroy the world with bad poetry. She must be stopped.

I do enjoy her singing though. She should stick to that.

Summary: My Wish
Review: More than any other book on the planet, this is the one that makes me fantasize about having the power to cause things to spontaneously burst into flame.

Summary: great
Review: I think this book is extroadinary anything you can possibly want in a poetry book. I was really suprised by her work...

Summary: An extremely pernicious book
Review: I'm sorry, but this simply isn't poetry. What am I comparing it to? The massive body of poetical work already in existence. Who am I to say what poetry is and is not? Well, I'm some one who both reads and writes it, and has studied it. This collection, as well as its massive sales, is an insult to every single lover of true poetry in the world.

Summary: Very Touching....
Review: Jewel is a talented song writer and singer. He music is deep and has a lot of meaning, but her poems go much, much deeper into your soul. I know that sounds cheesy, but it's true.

One of the poems that really stuck out and grabbed me was "The Things you Fear". This is a short poem, just 4 lines, but it had a powerful effect me. I can say that it has changed the way I think and look at the things I fear. I can't tell you what it means to me, because poetry is so personal. What makes poems to powerful and personal, is what we the reader can bring to it and get out of it. Then we can shape it to our lives.

I can promise you that if you buy this book, you won't be sorry.

Summary: Poetry is a Lost Art
Review: Name 5 poets who are currently living, currently being published, 5 that almost anyone would know. You can't because poets are rarely published in book form any longer, and definately not by a major press with a large printing. With Jewel's book people were reminded again about poetry, that poetry could be something more than obtuse words you were forced to read in high school. Think of how many people went out and started writing poetry, finding a way to express themselves, because of the return to words that Jewel brought out.

As for her poems, some are quite good, others are not, it could have been parred to down to just the best, but it wasn't. What people have disliked about the poems is their honesty, people today feel uncomfortable with honest people and tend to ridicule anyone who attempts to be so.

I have written a lot of poetry, a good deal of it bad, so I can appreciate the accomplishment of anyone putting a book out. Yes, maybe it is a celebrity, but she is a songwriter, and songwriters are todays poets.

Summary: Is Poetry Heart?
Review: Jewel actually had some heart to write about things the way that she did. I enjoyed a few of her poems, but some were just kind of not for me. I really like "Blanketed By A Citrus Smile", and refer back to that poem religiously! I think that poetry speaks from the heart and Jewel is a good writer, but sometimes I feel that she got that lucky to have her poetry published because she had music out first. I wiwsh I was that lucky to even have my poetry on the market! See what I mean? Life is hard, but poetry shoudln't be!

Summary: A Book of Poetry Worth Picking Up
Review: I at one time was a huge fan of Jewel, and have always thought that her words possessed a natural deepness that exceeded most praise given, but after reading A NIGHT WITHOUT ARMOR: POEMS, I was slightly disapointed. I think that all poetry comes from the heart, and being able to write it is a gift therefore I have an automatic appreciation for anyone who can sit down and write a series of poems and be brave enough to put them before everyone's eyes. But, the one thing that got to me was every one in about ten poems sounded like one I had previously read a few pages back-different words, with identical meanings. There are quite a few poems that speak very boldly about some of the raw and misfortunate sides of life, and ones that deal with the ups and downs of relationships that everyone can relate to in one way or another. This book all in all is worth taking the time to read if you can sit through a few bumps in the road. In my opinion-not bad at all for a first time author of a published book.

Summary: Lisa's Thoughts
Review: I thought the book was great. I read it every night before I go to bed. I can really relate to alot of the things Jewel writes about.

Summary: Worth Reading, But Not That Great
Review: This book contained a small handful of truly superb poems. Unfortunately, a lot of it was rather poor, and in many cases not even poetry. I find that I am a much bigger fan of her music--especially the first album--than her poetry. But because of the handful that found to be excellent, and because it really shows you more of the inner workings of Jewel, it is a book work reading. If you are not a fan of Jewel's music, however, I DEFINATELY would not recommend this book.
