Summary: An embarassment.
Review: Firstly, I'll start off by saying that I'm a Jewel fan, insofar as I'm a big fan of her music (both published and not).

That out of the way, this book of "poetry" is sub college magazine drivel, with Jewel and her navel sharing moments of extreme intimacy, and proceeding to a)bore the reader senseless and b)bore the reader senseless in a very poorly constructed way.

Even the title is essentially meaningless (if slightly clever) wordplay, and don't expect the rest of the book to even live up to that.

Only buy this if the book is the exact thickness to prop up a specific wobbly table leg in your house. Otherwise you'll find it's useless.

Summary: a so-so book
Review: This has good poems. But it is not the best book I have ever read. Take it or leave it.

Summary: avrege
Review: This book was ok. It had pretty poems but it was nothing special. It was pretty avrege. Sorry Jewel!

Summary: Enjoyable for some
Review: If you are a casual poetry reader and are looking for poetry that's easy to understand, and that doesn't have to be looked deeply into, this collection is fine.

However, if you enjoy poetry that requires analysis, that has more meaning underlying the surface, and that will stay with you for the rest of your life, look elsewhere.

Jewel has little language mastery, and her poems skim the surface of what true poetry should. This poetry requires no thought to read, as Jewel directly states just about everything that is to be found in her work. She uses no symbolism and little imagery.

To sum it up, Jewel mostly writes paragraphs and throws in line breaks.

Summary: Please don't use Britney spears & Jewel in the same sentence
Review: Hi I'm an avid fan of poetry, and while I'll be the first one A night without armour is just Ok compared to the classics, & learned contemporaries, her music and poetry is lightyears beyond the mindless body image, tone deaf marketing machine that fuels Mz Spears...

Art Can still save you but not if your advertizing Soda Pop

Summary: Great work!!!
Review: Part of the reason I like this book so much is because her poetry isn't all 'good'. It's real, it relates to real experiences and makes you feel things-the way a poem should.

Summary: A night without Armor hotdogs....
Review: What kind of kid eats Armor hotdogs? Short ones, tall ones, fat ones, small ones... Hotdogs, Armor hotdogs: They're the dogs kids love to bite!

There I made a poem; now publish me, too!

Summary: Suprisingly interesting
Review: I picked up this book of poetry off a sale table in the local book store, not at all sure what to expect. As a young woman, close to the author's age, I found her work surprisingly moving. Her poems are an origional emotional barage, touching and full of sting, whitty and reflective, intelligent yet youthful.

I particullarly enjoyed the fact that the poetry seems to stem from all parts of her life: family, career, love, adolescence, childhood. If you're looking for something fresh, this is a wonderful composition of poetry to pick up.

Summary: Jewel is an open and enjoyable poet. A must read for fans.
Review: I love Jewel's book of poetry. Her poems are often confessional and brutally honest. She has a way of sharing her soul that is completely lovely and definitely worth taking several looks at. You won't regret buying this book for your poetry collection. Take a chance on it. You will be glad that you did. A+
